The best tool in my experience to backfill trenches with a skid steer is a snowplow attachment with a spring assisted breakover in case you push too much dirt. It's much better than a fixed blade because it's a lot more forgiving in case you take too big of a bite in a pass. All it takes is 2 - 3 passes to get a 36"-48" trench filled, and you can keep your tracks out of the dirt pile. Run a compactor down the trench between lifts, and you can finish with almost no manual labour. Works great on all surfaces - we do it on golf courses when retrofitting irrigation lines. You can dial in the skid plate height to fine tune how much dirt has to be moved by hand.

!!! Missed opportunity, mate. You should have run it withe chain over the trench and the auger turning the opposite direction compared to the digging. It then would have helped shift the pile into the trench. I hoped you've figured it out.

the trencher I have rented several times in the past has an angled plow blade that sits along side the trenching arm opposite the auger. . That blade is up out of the way when digging, but can be rotated down to push the spoil back in the trench. I was kind of skeptical at first, but it works great. seems like Kabota could do something similar unless its patented.
@bradh5629Ай бұрын
that style window could save your life. I watched a guy sink a skid steer in a swamp, could not put the boom down far enough to open the door. He had no way of getting out and the machine was sinking. I wanted to break the glass but his buddy convinced us to wait for help which took forever and the guy inside was not happy.

The operational learning curve on these machines is minimal. They are extremely intuitive and can be learned in literally minutes. Of course that’s not to take away from anyone who has achieved expert operating ability. Faster, better and the amount of fine tuning necessary by hand for the finish project are what separates a novice from an expert.

In my area (close to Kyle) the tape is required for gas lines but still optional for electrical. Conduit is only required to cover down to the burry depth.
@jjtrades7186Ай бұрын
I think I would use conduit even if it wasn't required just as a preventative measure incase I needed to upgrade service later
@andrewr2650Ай бұрын
@@jjtrades7186 I'm all for future proofing but its worth looking at the costs. my electric company requires 3" conduit minimum for a service line, currently selling for about $5/foot. (material only) under 100' i'd probably install the conduit , my run was 450' so the only place its in conduit is where it passes under the paved driveway.

@psidvicious29 күн бұрын
To NOT utilize equipment like mini-track loaders, skid-steers, mini-excavators, with all of the available attachments is just poor time and money management. It’s actually not even that hard to calculate. They said in the video that the trench took ~10 minutes or so to dig. Just visualize how much time/money you would have to spend to dig that trench, by hand, with shovels and laborers. It’s a no brainer. Another adjacent advantage is - neatness actually does count. A clean and uniformly dug trench shows the customer they’ve hired a professional and they can be confident that they made a good investment choice. You’ll be pleasantly surprised when you call a few equipment rental companies to get some pricing. Again, just do a mental comparison of the work performed, with the machine versus performed with laborers and the machine will win every time. Don’t worry about your ability to operate the equipment too much either. They are generally very intuitive and the learning curve is minimal. Factor into your calculation a certain amount of time to learn the machines function and the machine will still come out on top as the smart financial choice, guaranteed.
