Rest in peace Yamini ma'am 😢. I came here to see old videos on hearing the news of Ma'am 's sad demise. ❤

Unbelievable! So long and elaborate plate section is perfectly done. It looks so easy and natural. Pranam to Great Gurus!

I had the good fortune to see Yamini Krishnamurti in a dance recital she presented at the Herodeion Theater in Athens (Greece) in June 1984. A very great dancer! I still keep as a souvenir the rose petals that he held and scattered on the stage of the ancient theater.

Splendid! It is amazing to watch her dancing ‘ bala gopalatarangam’ with her sister Jyothismathi singing.

Even if not looking at her movements, just seeing her face alone sets the climate of the dance, the movements is a plus

Great dancers have one thing in common, they look effortless when they dance. In addition to this, Yamini Krishnamurthy has a certain "swag" (for the lack of better word). I am unable to explain as I a have almost no knowledge of dance other than consuming it visually. I wish I was born during her time and watch her live.
@gaurinayaka4 жыл бұрын
“Swag” is the correct term. They don’t make dancers like this anymore. It’s not about technical perfection. It is about joy, personified, erupting on the stage. Manodharma, saatvikaabhinaya in its most pristine form.

I saw her live around 1981 in Delhi. She was a complete artist. She inhabited her roles in a unique way and with joy and ease. One of the greats.

It’s so weird because dancers today have much more athletic ability but don’t seem to be dancing with as much feeling. Which I think is much easier sometimes than endless training!

I've watched dozens upon dozens of performances by beloved Yamini Akka. She's a complete dancer - and she controls every inch of stage space the minute she sets foot upon it. To my mind, no other dancer in any other classical Indian dance style matches her. There's joie de vivre par excellence, and a completely immersion in her art. Add to that an incredibly beautiful body line - which is a huge bonus for a dancer. Akka is an excellent singer and does nattuvāngam too (conducting an orchestra with cymbals and enunciating, especially, the nritta or pure dance sections of the dance).

I wish the camera people were trained better. Shooting at random, this one's just cut off Yamini Akka's feet at random. Kuchipudi footwork is exquisite.

Depends on the dance...u can pay respect before the start of dance...and the style of Kuchipudi had varied a lot...it was kind of a dance that was used as a bhakthi cult..so old style m8 be this
