Hello Larry Thank you for watching sir. I do appreciate your support. I’ll do my best to create more content. I was thinking a kuiu layer system for early , mid and late season.

I have sitka timberline pants and Jetstream jacket and kuiu guide pants and run a few different kifaru pack setups but have never really considered kifaru for a clothing option. Your review is making me rethink it

The lost park parka setup is excellent synthetic insulation. I recently picked up the full zip parka in multi camo. I like the easy on and off, Not a big fan of pullovers in general.

Really appreciate the comparison to other likely options as well as you “usage”. Actually putting them in and moving as well as the pack. One suggestion would be to keep it consistent and wear the pack with the others. Some jackets have pockets higher to still be usable with a pack belt, others do not. Would be nice to see how the Kuiu pockets “work” with a waist belt too. Thank you, just subscribed!

Hey Jacob I appreciate the feedback, I’ll do my best to put something together that shows all jackets with a pack on. Thanks for subscribing.

Kifaru on order for me. Looked more durable and it’s Made in USA!

Lost park parka will last longer for sure. The only down side is weight and takes up more space. Small price to pay for something that will last a very long time.

Also, synthetic insulation continually loses its insulation value as it gets older. Down doesn't have that problem.

My kuiu 15 degree bag and super down pro jacket looses down through the material. The synthetic would last longer between the two options

I like the information you give on styles and personal experience, please share on wear and tear and/or repairs.

Hey Carman, I appreciate your feedback. As for maintenance of insulation, I would suggest having tenacious tape available. The synthetic insulation would be more durable and last longer. Thank you for your time

Do you happen to have any follow up comments about the LPP? I was looking at updating my Kuiu Ultra Down for something warmer and more robust.
@island-gear-review23593 жыл бұрын
I prefer the full zip. The pull over is a little tight. It’s not a jacket your going to be active in. Very warm. Blocks the wind. It’s heavy and bulky but will keep you warm in any condition. The elements jacket would be a good option as well if planning on being active. I have the older keani jacket which I like.

Great video but your weights are off. The lost park parka is listed at 21 oz fit size large which is 1.3 lbs
@island-gear-review23594 жыл бұрын
hey keltacer As for the weight of both Kifaru lost park parka jacket and pant the total in ounces is 45 ounces, which is 2.812 lbs. thank you for watching the video.

What was the biggest item you could wear under the super down pro? What size rain gear did you wear over it? Debating buying the SDP in XL based on reviews (usually a large), but concerned it won't fit under my L Chugach jacket
@island-gear-review23592 жыл бұрын
Hello Alex As for underneath super down pro. I usually run a base layer short or long sleeve, mid weight layer than super down pro. As for size of rain gear I went with XL is a bit big with less layers but fits perfect with all layers.

For durability would you worry about the Kuiu super down pro getting tears in the butt/knees if you were sitting on logs or rocks? I'm trying to decide if I want to carry the extra weight/space of the Kifaru. Thanks
@island-gear-review23593 жыл бұрын
I would watch what you sit on with kuiu super down pro. It loses down through the coat same will their sleeping bags. It’s light and packable not durable

@@island-gear-review2359 Thank you! How are your kifaru and super down pro pants holding up? How long have you had each of them?
@island-gear-review23593 жыл бұрын
I bought the kuiu pro about 2 yrs ago and kifaru 1.5 If I was going to buy one I would buy the kifaru insulation. Will last longer and keep you warm if you get wet.

Kuiu kenia would be a light option for synthetic

thanks for the review. What is your waste size? I'm looking at super down pants. 33" waist. Bigger thighs. Thought maybe I'd ge the large pants and tighten up the waist... what do you think?
@island-gear-review23592 жыл бұрын
Hey Matt My waist is 36”. If you go one size up the waist would tighten down. The pant length might be a bit long. What’s your inseam ? Mines a 30”
@matthewpeschke2 жыл бұрын
@@island-gear-review2359 I'm around 31 but always get 32" in hunting pants b/c of thick boot soles
@island-gear-review23592 жыл бұрын
Yeah if you have bigger legs (quads) up sizing would be best. Kuiu tends to run a bit small in pant leg area.
@matthewpeschke2 жыл бұрын
@@island-gear-review2359 perfect. appreciate the help. I have some lighter weight rab synthetics. Figured these super downs give me a lot of heat. other alternative is the SG Grumman pant but I think I'd prefer a tougher denier.

The Super down is warm and light weight very compacted. Thanks for your time. Looking forward to hearing how it works out for you.

Nice job! Great review and comparison on the Kuiu down suits. Get a better camera, decent audio microphone, pay attention to your lighting and backgrounds and you are off to professional youtube status.
