Such a beautiful job! What type of liner/shade cloth did you use before putting down the gravel, and what did you do to the edges of it after the gravel was laid on top? Did you just cut the edges? Great plan, execution and result. Well done. I'm working to build my own, very much like yours, and I'm wondering how much wood bending did you get over time? I noticed the threaded bars for back support. What about the 3.85 sides with no threaded bars enforcement.?

Very pretty, most gardens are not. I like the decorative effect of the lighting and the wood finish. We do have to be conscious of how we impact the earth and our own health when we select the products we use as noted in other comments. We cannot claim we didn’t know as previous generations can. I think if the spacing between beds also at the fence line would accommodate the lady’s stool and a pair of legs it would improve access and safe your backs. All in all, you put a lot of planning and hard work into this job. Well done! Thanks for sharing.

That's a beautiful and efficient shape, it's not a garden bed but a whole raised garden! Have you heard of shou sugi ban technique of wood preservation? Allows, supposedly, not to use plastic liner. We built all our new beds using this method, trying to go full-on organic and natural. hope it's as good as advertised because we spent some $$ on it, lol... Also, we experimented with pure tung oil because it's the most natural of all wood sealants (linseed oil wasn't as long lasting in our experience), and are very pleased with the result. It dries solid, and water just sits on top of it keeping the wood completely dry.

Very beautiful garden bed! Too late for this suggestion, but you could have added a bit more space 3-4' at the back towards the fence and added a long row of arched trellises to grow gourds, melons and other vining plants, using something like the cattle panel fences available in the USA. Congratulations and hope you grow a lot of food!

This is amazing. You didn't need to compact the ground under the gravel? I am looking to do this in my yard - with 3 long planters. Have done first step of digging up the grass but now trying to work out how to best prepare the base layer so its nice and level and holds the gravel and garden beds well

There are several food safe sealants available. I sealed the inside of mine without any issues 🤷‍♀️

Hi there again, I'm planning on making a raised bed using a shopping trolley, do you think it would work using plastic sheeting, and perhaps thick bin liners to line the trolley with and then puncturing the bottom with many holes? My main worry is the plastic turning the compost toxic. But I am not sure that any other thing for this shopping trolley setup would be practical long term.
