And don't get confused by the name, Never Unarmed. When Cold Steel was sold in November, a portion (mostly spears, blowguns, etc) was held back and renamed Never Unarmed. But now Never Unarmed was also sold to the same buyer, so we're going back to Cold Steel in the near future.
This Maasai Spear has a socketed spearhead and spike of tough and resilient S50C carbon steel which are matched with a haft of robust American Ash hardwood. The spear ships unassembled, but is simply constructed with its pre-drilled sockets and included screws for mounting.. Detailed assembly instructions are printed on the packaging. Also included is a hard impact-plastic Secure-Ex sheath for the spearhead.

I was just watching masai and the way they use their spear. The butt end becomes the head end when thrown. The blade end is for thrusting. Spin it around and it becomes a javelin

Have a Masai spear like this one. picked up on safari in Kenya// Tanzania in 1976 in a village in exchange for fresh meat. Type shown is a defensive spear when watching livestock. The three parts are not screwed together but are meant to come apart so you don't lose your speat. Thus the other end can be used to ward off other threats. It's what I was told by the maker of the speat anyway. Nice piece of kit to go "hardcore" hunting, like 8,000bc hardcore.

The "cutout" is just there as a result of the stamping process necessary to form the haft socket and keep the plane of the blade centered with the diameter of the haft.

I've got a Masai spear, yours, sort of, resembles it. Frankly the blade looks like a piece of pipe that has been split and spread out. The real ones have a center ridge, which strengthens it in the thrust. The butt point should be more like a Roman pilum point, meant to punch though shields and tough hide.

I think I'd make the sheath were you could put everything on it and just have a belt loop on the sheath, then have the wood part have steel button on it to were you could lock it into both ends. So you don't have to worry about the screws.

cool I bought it and didn't fucking work. Not the spear, it's fine. But I followed the instructions for assembly to a t and yet the screws just won't fucking go. It gives you way to small of a driver for this, do not do even 1/16 or you will suffer. Use something bigger, and have a strong drill otherwise you won't get them in

the screws should 100% be difficult to put in. if your comment had said they were easy to put in then I'd be thinking yeah easy to fall out too. if you need a drill to get the screws into the predrilled holes then that tells me its construction is solid. reading the listing there's nothing about it coming with a driver tool but I can't imagine they would send you an expensive tool considering the price of the spear. thanks to this comment I've decided to buy the massai spear. on their website most of the bad reviews are because the screws don't hold and the spearhead gets loose so this comment tells me this is unlikely to happen with this specific spear. Thank you
