Thanks for sharing video. I just fixed my power metter by soldering 18650 battery inside case. Hello from Bosnia

Whatever the problem, 18650 cells are the answer! Although even more important not to let it go completely flat. Thanks for commenting,

Your repair here is a little bit dangerous, plugging it in with the item disassembled. However i have this exact device and the exact same problem! Thank you so much!!!

You're right of course. Old habits are hard to break but I should take more precautions. Thanks for commenting.

@@quetzal4042 thank you so much for this video. I ended up replacing my battery with a 5.5 volt supercapacitor. It's been working perfectly fine for the past week or so! Because of your video I definitely had the confidence that it was the battery

🙏😉Thank you so much for your sharing this video. Because i have the same problem like you. So, i'm looking for Video Tutorial about this problem but I can't found. Only you give me the solution. May God bless you, sir. Hello from Indonesia.

This thing tend to show low or unstable voltage after some time. Now i know why, and how to fix it. Thanks much!

Wonder why changing the battery made it work? I've got one from ~2015 that works okay, but won't remember the kwh value once it loses mains power, suggesting the battery is dead, even though it's had constant mains power for many months (meaning it should be fully charged at a slow charge rate).

Good day sir. I have a question sir,how many value of resistor beside at film capacitor sir?
@quetzal40428 ай бұрын
I measured it at 100 ohms.

How old was the original battery?

About 3 years. So a premature failure, but it sat unused for months at a time in a drawer in a fairly damp basement. Thanks for commenting.

These batteries are deadly in their destruction potential from leaking electrolyte. They have destroyed countless motherboards.

Lifespan supposedly "up to" 5 years, just long enough that they don't have to make them replaceable. In retrospect, the instructions do mention that it has a NiMH battery. Thanks for commenting,

Why does that battery last so short? Obviously bad quality. It should last at least 5 years, not less than two, like mine. Is it known what the charging current is?🤔I ordered a bit stronger (40mAh) so we'll see. And maybe I'll put Li-Ion 200mAh with charging protection. That should work.😉

If the board gives the nimh battery a constant-current charge at around c/250, it will be fine for a nimh battery but will overcharge a lithium battery, even if the nominal voltage is the same. And I dare say the circuit _will_ constant-current charge the 3S nimh battery because that's what nimh cells are good for: simply using a resistor to keep it topped up/charge it slowly (at ~c/250 - c/300, which will take ~2 weeks to charge it to full from flat).
