Nice job John, I have two of these Kill a Watt meters, and I have never had reason to open them, but with your video I have an idea of what's in them... I wonder what your back ground is ? I am a retired EE, and yes still dabbling with sparky items.... I replaced some failing caps in three of my subwoofer plate amps this year, they are now back in operation, and the parts cost was about $1... The vendor wanted $300 for a new plate amp each.... Sometimes have a little kill and patients can save you a good deal of money... Keep your videos going, nice presentation. Regards, -BC

Awesome job on the repair. I have been in the Industrial Electrical field for about 25years (mostly reliability) and have always loved learning more about electronics. We hardly ever repair down to board level these days in the industry. I still hate throwing things out that still has value. Thanks for your comment!

I just came across your videos this morning, and watched some, nice presentation, lot soon good info and well done... Keep at it, Regards, -BC

Thanks for your video. I have a different problem which maybe you can suggest a fix before I toss it. My P3 P4400 has a blank display. I have already tried jumpering F1 & F2 which not help. The diodes seem to measure fine (both ways). About to donate it to my trash can. I have an electronic background (over 30 years) but, some things aren't worth the trouble to save. Anyone with suggestions would be appreciated!

The fuses would be the go to for sure. Since you have already eliminated those, the 7805 5V regulator maybe if no display at all. If the 5V is good, is it possible just the zebra strip connection to the lcd having a bad connection. Sorry I have not had any other experience with a failure of that nature, hope it helps a little. Best of luck with your repair!
