I'd not heard these played as a concert item before the Wigmore Hall recital. This was some years' earlier. Yunchan's contrapuntal detail is always exquisite. J.S. Bach obviously had a devotee here at biological age 15 , tho' with an incalculable musical age. Lucky for us.

A ne pas prendre cette oeuvre comme pages d´exercices... C´est Bach..et il y faut mettre une force de spiritualité une force de recueillement intérieur pour les exécuter avec soins et méditation...Peu de pianistes s´en intéressent´et les entreprennent mécaniquement..encore moins voudraient-ils les produire en concert... certains qu´ils seraient de perdre l´intérêt de leur auditoire....Eh bien Lim, Lui, ose et c´est la réussite. Et Il a gagné en renommée pour ne pas nous reproduire du Glenn Gould... Nos compliments n´ajoutent rien à ses mérites...exceptionnels...Si seulement Il pouvait savoir qu´au fond des terroirs, il y a un petit peuple du commun qui lui est sensible et est tout à son écoute pour leur plus grand bien être quotidien !

They have been played in concert for many decades, but usually in smaller recital halls, churches, chamber music venues, etcetera. Bach's Symphonias are still criminally underappreciated and sadly neglected by most concertpianists, probably because many pianists had to practice these pieces as a child and never had the opportunity to appreciate the incredible beauty of these pieces. By the way, I'm very impressed by the high quality of this performance. Really amazing playing, especially considering his young age at the time!

저역시 같은 마음입니다. 윤찬군은 내면이 강하면서 유연함도 갖고 있는 다재다능한 피아니스트란 생각이 듭니다. 연주를 보고 듣고 있으면 정말이지 몰입하게 만드는 그 강한 파워가 느껴지는게 신기한 경험입니다. 정말 윤찬군이 더욱더 발전할 수 있도록 본인이 다 해연주해보고 싶은 음악가들의 음악을 마음껏 할 수 있게 온전히 지켜주고 싶네요!!! 진심으로 윤찬군 고마워요🙏🏼

Brilliant, insightful Bach performances from a 15-year-old Yunchan Lim. The more I listen, the more amazed I am. His talent apparently knows no boundaries. I notice he plays the 3-part inventions in the same sequence that Glenn Gould used in his live 1955 CBC broadcast which is also on KZbin. 😎🎹
