Beautiful tutorial, I love the Hang Drum music, and your braiding is akin to dancing with your hands

@@ClaudiaWollny Hello Claudia, I sent you a friend request on Facebook. If you accept it I can show you what I'm going to be doing with what I learned from your videos. I will be using your techniques but not making the type of products you're making . Also it's also for a charity.

@@webnation212 Oh, that's fine. But I didn't receive your request. Could you send a PM on facebook?

Beautiful! Are you familiar with sageo? Braided chords like this used in japanese sword sheaths. It looks very similar to me, and I am thinking of using this technique to make my own sageo. Can I ask you, what is the thickness of the chord stock that you buy to make those?

What string may i use to do this? Been planning what to do. Thank you! 😊

You may use thick yarn (cotton) or you can warp the strands out of fine yarn (silk, cotton).

Can this be done on a Kumihimo Disk?
@ClaudiaWollny5 жыл бұрын
Of course, the moves are the same. You have to adapt them to the disk.

May I ask what thread you are using? I love the finished look but I stuggle with picking threads myself and would love some guidance.

For the braid which I am working on in the video (black/blue/light blue) and also the one which you can see at the end (black/yellow/light brown), I used very fine silk which I warped by myself (16 or 24 fine threads per rope/strand). All strands are of the same thickness. The braid with a different color arrangement (yellow/orange/red/lilac) is of simple cotton crocheting yarn which is used for chrocheting potholders! In this case, you don't need to warp and can use the yarn without preparing a strand. It's a very comfortable yarn to exercise. Also it has a nice (not shiny) appearance. In my other videos (Sakura Genji - Cherry Blossom, or Hira Kara - Snake Braid) I used original Japanese precut silk yarn.

Thank you for showing us these amazing videos. I too am wondering where you purchase your threads from? Also when making these wraps I assume you wind them yourself with a desktop device? I am learning on the a disk now with over 150 unique threads, silks, cotton, nylon ribbons, and hemp. Each seem to create a different end product. Any advice of affordable threads is greatly appreciated.

KZbin has got a function to show it in a slow motion. Or you have to stop the video after each step. There are only 4 steps that have to be repeated. Watch the groups. I couldn't make it too slow ;)
