You can superimpose the kumoi pentatonic (dorian pentatonic) the same way you superimpose melodic minor scale. min6 = play it from the root of the chord min7 = play it from the root of the chord minMaj7 = play it from the root of the chord 7(b9) = play it from the b7 of the chord 7alt = play it from the b9 of the chord 7(#11) = subV7 play it from the 5 the of the chord Maj6 = play it from the 6 of the chord Maj7 = play it from the 6 of the chord Maj7(#5) = play it from the 6 of the chord m7b5 = play it from the b3 of the chord

I just watched Part 1 and now this. Amazing, helpful stuff. I've long been aware of superimposition as an improvisational technique, but I avoided it because it seemed so daunting. You've made it accessible. Great lessons.

Most people agree that kumoi is min 69 (1 2 b3 5 6) Jirijoshi is min b69 (1 2 b3 5 b6) In western music

Hello, great lesson. Thank you! Do you know the background of why John Coltrane and McCoy Tyner became obsessed with Pentatonics during this period does the 20th century harmony book provide context?

Intersting, the minor69 arpeggio is the same as the kumoi pentatonic.

Superimpose just means “play it over” As in “He super-imposed scale x over chord y” = “He played scale x over chord y”
