As a European artist, it's absolutely insane to see the numbers people can make at US conventions! I've tabled a lot in the UK, and there, my best convention got me about 650 GBP, and my best Dutch convention got me about 600 Euros. The tables costs tend to be cheaper, but hotel/travel can be the same, especially airfare, so like... these numbers are nuts! Thank you so much for sharing!

those are still pretty good numbers, i would say!! but there are definitely some crazy high profits people are making at cons over here in the US. i wonder if there's a different culture surrounding conventions here, which may have something to do with it? it took me a while to get my profits up this high though. when i started out, i was making anywhere between 0-500 GBP, and sometimes i was in the red haha ToT

Im in a predicament! I'm moving to LA from NYC in November, but then Kumori and ANYC are both 2 weeks after I move. Obviously LA is closer to Portland, but ANYC is the bigger show? But also ANYC has attendance cap like last year which hurt artists.

so sorry i just saw this!! i’ve been on a break so i haven’t been checking youtube. i know it’s late now since the deadline has passed but in the future i would look at travel costs and see how different they are. i think kumori is consistently quite a decent show despite its size whereas there are more uncertainties regarding anyc. i would personally attend the one with lower travel and vending costs. but if you’ve never done anyc, for example, and you’ve had prior experience vending at kumori, i’d go for the show you haven’t done yet (if you can afford it) and just see how it goes. if i were in your shoes, i’d go with anyc because i have people i can stay with and wouldn’t have to pay for a hotel for example. again, so sorry because i know the deadline has passed but this is typically how i weigh my options when choosing between multiple events :’)

Oh my god I didn't see your table, or at the very least I didn't see those cute notepads. Are you gonna be at Sakuracon, and have them? I will buy at least 1 of each of the 2 on the left side (the quest one and the art program one) if you are!

aahh i sold out of the notepads really quickly, and i was back towards the autographs, so my table was a bit easy to miss! i'm so happy you like the notepads so much though, and i definitely need to get even more of them made! as for sakuracon... they haven't opened their artist alley applications yet, so i'm not sure if i'll be going yet or not. i would love to go though! it's been on my list of conventions to sell at D:

@@kathyvong yes sakuracon is hard to get into, but mostly because of how many people apply, and it's first come first served. so basically you have to submit right when they open theirs up.

Thanks for going over everything I am trying to figure out what new things to make I have been tabling since 2005 and I stopped when covid started and just now getting back to it so I feel out of the loop. My profit is uaually only like a couple hundred though cause tables are so much maybe I need to make totes and higher priced items ;3;

jumping back in after taking a long break is so overwhelming; best of luck to you and your future endeavors! also, make sure you're pricing your items appropriately! things have changed over the years, so definitely raise the prices of your items like prints/charms/stickers if you haven't already. some people are selling 11x17s for $20-25 now! higher priced items like totes can be nice to try if have designs in mind. i would start small though, like maybe test the waters with one design because things like totes or apparel are really expensive to have made ToT
