There was no way for Tati to know that the waiter in question was straight, and even if that was the case, asking about someone’s sexuality isn’t “trying to turn them gay”. There are more examples but that’s the most obvious one. Also please look up what slander is. Slandering someone is to spread negative things about them that you KNOW aren’t true. Also guess what? I’m gay too :). Her blindly claiming that “he tried to trick a straight guy into thinking that he’s gay” could easily be a quote from the 1960 PSA “BOYS BEWARE” and you’d never know the difference. The thing about Tati is that one of the main reasons she made the video was because she allegedly saw James making moves on minors. But after James’ defense video, people sent hate to Tati either saying she lied or was manipulated. This led to her forming a lawsuit against Jeffree and Shane, which was explained in a video that has since been deleted. But, with all the new allegations on James and his admission video, people realized that Tati might’ve been right all along. This is why I think people are more forgiving to Tati since they all believe they may have gaslit her into not believing herself. I am not for nor against Tati, but I wanted to give some background information to hopefully clear some things up
@violettefemme213 жыл бұрын
Which I think it is also notable that compared to the other three her main victim was James. Then she also went for JS and Shane which then led to Shane's manifesto and then everyone started digging up everything they could on him. I know Tati's earlier support of Jeffree hurt people and such but comparatively while she made mistakes in how she went about things I don't think her transgressions are completely unforgivable. Many may never care to support her again which is fine but I think she will easily win back the support of her audience that was always just there for the makeup.

@pixlfinch10913 жыл бұрын
No I don't forgive tati. 1. She made a video without proper receipts to manipulate her audience. If you really care about predatory behaviour of James, you would go to the police not make a video. Social media is not a place to seek justice. Law enforcement and courts exist for imparting justice. Millions of anonymous internet mobs can't realistically do anything. As you see cancel culture doesn't really exist. But jails do. So the biggest issue is that tati choose to ignore proper channels. Firstly, that's unprofessional to blame somebody for something without proof. Doing so is labelled as gossip and spreading rumours. In any legal situation, if you try to spread slander outside of the court case, it always works against you in the court. There is a process for everything. Making a social media post is never the answer. If she had some receipts, she could have made a case. Her video in the court could have been evidence as whistle blower act. But no she didn't have anything on him at that time. Collect your evidence first before blaming people. 2. Her main tigger for reporting a predator was the vitamin pills. So you are okay knowing he is a predator as long as he is promoting your company? Firstly, that's just problematic. But also, if a lawyer can prove that your case is gone. And she unfortunately started her video with that. She admitted that her main motivation to make the video is spite. 3. She admitted that she was concerned that he was straight fishing. Corrupting straight youth etc. Although no court care about this as much. Because there are no laws as such about for or against this. But this doesn't settle well with me.
@abcxyz46533 жыл бұрын
She kind of did lie though. She said James was preying on this straight guy, and then James showed receipts of their convo where he said he was actually bi and interested in meeting up. Tati was also mostly going after the fact that he did a sponsorship with a vitamin company that wasn’t hers. And let’s not forget she was a 40 year old woman releasing a 40 minute video called Bye Sister trying to take down a teenager who was previously her friend (seems immature and dramatic to me). If she were actually aware of him being with MINORS and wanted to hold him accountable publicly, she could have briefly tweeted about it. She also later apologized for the video and said she was manipulated by JS and SD so I think they told her James was predatory on straight men and she ran with it in her initial take down video.

This video actually links up to your last one really well: cancel culture isn't real and after a certain amount of following no public outcry that doesn't go along with a legal case and following jail sentence can keep an influencer from coming back. All of the examples you mentioned have lost some following, but there will always be people who either don't know about the scandal or don't care about it enough to stop watching. And that platform enables them to build their followers back up by bringing in a new generation of fans. In the case of predators this is of course horrible as they are again put in a position of power which they can use to their advantage, but I would see that more as a failure of the justice system. Overall I would still say it's a good thing no-one can be cancelled permanently, because while most of these examples don't deserve it in my opinion, depending on the scandal others deserve the chance to change and come back.

In regards to Tati, in her "A Year Later..." video she seems genuinely in a different place mentally than she was a year ago. Like she truly has done a lot of work and thinking and truly wants to just come back to youtube and talk about beauty and makeup and never involve herself in any type of "youtube drama" ever again. Which if she does I think she will do well and easily be accepted by her audience. I think she made mistakes for sure but nothing to the level of a career ending cancelation that she could never come back from.

With the CallmeCarson drama, the issue not only is there an issue with him going after fans, but also his manipulative tendencies. Traves and Cooper left the house they lived in because of how they were treated by Carson. As well, Schlatt had said on the Weekly Slap that he had been told by Carson that he had stopped doing those things, and then the controversy came out, which means that he had done similar things before. The Narrator spoke about his experience with Carson as well, and how he said that he never goes out of “content mode.” Pushing people around him to laugh at them, even while knowing it may be something sensitive. That’s a common problem I think with big creators. They see that people online love this online persona of them, and so they just gradually change to fit that mold without even seeing how annoying that type of person would be.

The comment about there being a difference between how James and Carson were treated for basically the same crime made me think that homophobia might play a part. What he did was undeniably shitty and I'm not trying to defend him at all. I just think it's interesting how bigotry (passive or aggressive) can exacerbate how a celebrity is punished by the public.
