Kung Fu is an American Western/drama/action series starring David Carradine. The series aired on ABC from October 1972, to April 1975 for a total of 63 episodes. Kung Fu was preceded by a full-length feature television pilot, an ABC Movie of the Week, which was broadcast in 1972.
Kung Fu was created by Ed Spielman, directed and produced by Jerry Thorpe, and developed by Herman Miller, who was also a writer for, and co-producer of, the series.
The series follows the adventures of a Shaolin monk, Kwai Chang Caine (虔官昌 Qián Guānchāng) (portrayed by David Carradine as an adult, Keith Carradine as a teenager and Radames Pera as a young boy) who travels through the American Old West armed only with his spiritual training and his skill in martial arts, as he seeks his half-brother, Danny Caine.

Did you know it was originally intended for Bruce Lee to play the main part 🙏☯️ but Hollywood decided a westerner would have more appeal ( basically racist 😢 ). Imagine if Bruce Lee had done all these fight scenes 😢😮😮💥😁💥🙏☯️. Still fantastic and become my life's aim. To wonder as a Wudan monk with my ; bowl 🍜, robe and Dizi. The only mark I leave are foot prints and the occasional seed so others travelling "the way☯️🙏" may have some shade, food and find their way a little easier ☯️🙏 Amitofuo

1:23 - 1:44 I just now realized the teenage Caine is David Carradine's brother, Keith. Good actor in his own right. What a show that was when we were beginning to open up to the various peoples and their cultures in the Far East. Thanks for putting this up.

David's relaxed defense style against weapons and keeping his cool in a pinch is what I really miss. Smoke a fatty and you can really believe in self defense like a human being and attracting the right kind of woman without even being aware of it. Red Pill chill.

Watched this show as a kid. Just had an ephinay today that. My life and how I have lived was definately impacted by it. I learnt shaolin healing techniques as a young adult, I have compassion and empathy for everyone I meet. I love chinese art. I'm quiet but strong. A morning of reflection. I wish there were programs like it for young people today. My mind boggles when I think how their lives will be impacted by what they are watching. Classic example Married at first sight! 🥺

@44excalibur

@@Thespeedrap The Bruce Lee biopic was based on Linda Lee Cadwell's book, and she had no idea about what actually went on in Warner Bros. studios. She made an assumption that was proven to be incorrect. Ed Spielman created Kung Fu in the mid-1960s when he was in New York City and originally wrote it as a movie project. His original idea was about a samurai who travels to China and learns Kung Fu from a Shaolin monk, but he was advised to change the story and focus on the monk and cut out the samurai completely. Ed Spielman submitted his first draft of the script, called Kung Fu: Way of the Tiger, Sign of the Dragon, in 1966, the same year that Bruce Lee had just arrived in Hollywood to work on The Green Hornet. Warner Bros. has documentation proving this. Bruce Lee later came up with his own idea for a TV series called The Warrior, but his story was totally different, and the only similarity was that it was set in the late 1800s, but Bruce's story was set mostly in the San Francisco area. There was no character named Kwai Chang Caine, there was no Master Po or Master Kan, or anything that you saw in the Kung Fu television series. The wandering hero concept of Kung Fu was actually inspired by The Fugitive, not from anything Bruce Lee did.

@@Thespeedrap The Bruce Lee biopic was fictionalized. Bruce Lee did write his own idea for a story called The Warrior years later, but the story was totally different aside from the late 1800s setting. Bruce Lee had nothing whatsoever to do with the creation of Kung Fu.

People, did you know that Lee Jun Fan wrote the storyline of Kung-fu. Of course..... he envisioned himself as the lead character. Unfortunately, it didn't happen, and the producers selected a more Americanized actor. Thus, David Carradine.
