Ya'll laughing throughout this movie while I was dead-silent, mesmerized of how amazing and epic it was. Besides humor, this movie is produced really well and the fighting choreography is incredible. And the soundtrack is unbelievably good. I've watched this movie many times and still I feel like I'm watching it for the first time.

At 18:20, they fight because they are fighters and spent most of their life times training so instead of talking, they fight as if it is a conversation of their own. Fighting is their language. The same way musicians would talk to one another with their music skills, and artists would communicate with art. The skills are their languages.

@@kungpowchicken78 The landlady (Yuen Qiu) was classmate with Jackie Chan, Sammo Hung and Yuen Wah (the landlord) when they were in the same opera troupe in the 1960s. Like Jackie, Sammo, Yuen Wah and few other fellow students, they became stuntmen/stuntwomen when their teacher migrated to USA. Yuen Qiu worked as stunts/substitutes for actresses on fighting scenes and then left the scene for 18 years after she got married. Kungfu Hustle was the first time she really acted, with an actual role in a movie.

Michelle was almost right: Stephen Chow did not incorporate moments which could have happened in other movies into "Kung Fu Hustle", he incorporated moments which already happened in many other movies. Do be aware that the film was primarily made for a Hong Kong audience, who was not only familiar with the local popular culture but also the Chinese ones, so the movie was brimming with references lost to others, but it's a feat that it still appeals to them, with a bit of universal humour from the Road-Runner. "Alita: Battle Angel" by James Cameron and Robert Rodrigues even paid homage to it.

Gotta be honest though, kinda weird of almost everyone, specially Larry, laughing at everything. Even the serious moments. It feels as if they thought "since it is a comedy everything is supposed to be funny". When in fact this movie is great at changing back and forth from something funny to something serious to something sad to something amazing to something terrifying as it is The Beast with the toad technique. Confusing it with the over-the-top silliness and ridiculousness of some Bollywood movies.

In traditional Chinese medicine, the gallbladder of snake is used to cure disease, and the place where they assassinated the landlady was a medicine shop. So, there appeared a box of snakes. The scene of film was taken to be 1940s in Shanghai, when China was transforming from its traditional society to modern society and was in a state of disorder and underdevelopment. People lived in hunger and fear. The comic scene has a tragic background.

This style of film is sort of what they call Wuxia, which is a super human martial artist. (but this is a parody of that genre) It's the notion that if you spend enough time and train hard as a lifelong pursuit in your martial art you can attain super human feats with your prowess. So you might seek out fighters tougher than you are to train. Being defeated is often a lesson also, and the guy who defeats you might become your mentor, as your goal is to become better than everybody else. Though in this film it also has the element of the "chosen one" as explained.

Fun Facts: The Land lady was one of the Karate girls in the James Bond film "The man with the golden gun". The Beast is played by Bruceploitation actor Bruce Leong. All the masters are former martial arts film stars. The axe gang was played by the matrix stunt team. Oh, and Stephen Chow was a huge fan of Loony toons cartoons.

Really?I don't even know why he laugh so hard at those sad moments. And the other brainless girls just followed his laugh. They don’t even like the movie, just looking for the end and leave. What a waste of time for they. And you surely don’t understand that movie too.

the guy at the right seems to overreact towards most scenes, not every scene requires you to laugh. Somemore he keep laughing "too hard" while that scene just simply a normal joy. But the girls are truly enjoy and showing their real and nice reaction. (Just my opinion)

Well...considering he is almost 60 now. Interesting fact is, Stephen Chow in real life is childhood good friend with Tony Leung, the actor who played Shang-Chi's father. Stephen wanted to go to audition to be an actor when he was young, and got Tony to go with him. In the end Tony got the part but Stephen didnt. Tony had a head start, but Stephen eventually got his roles later. And both went on to become superstars.
