Practice buddy, it's not that hard to "catch a full power punch" compared to catching a jab, you need to do Pull Counter like Floyd. Give the opponent a target (your face) to make them punch where you want them to, then dodge, now incorporate catching their committed punching arm.

of course, as they fall down you accidentally step on their faces as you flee. While this is an unfortunate side effect of your being afraid, it DOES help you escape and they are the ones who started this fight. So there is no moral condemnation upon you that you lost your balance and stepped on them as you fled.

Is this even practical? It is already hard to defend and attack against a single individual but multiple? Though the concept is quite good. Using your opponent to block other opponents.
@johndough8115

Im not sure what you mean. This is how Combat was basically designed to function. The difference, is that typically you use Strikes and Kicks, while using One of the OPs as an Obstacle / Shield. That said... to really be able to do what he is doing... At his level... you need to have done a few years of training in Chi-Na (Chinese Grappling), in addition to his Arm Fencing / Fighting Skills. It seems impractical to those that likely have never even trained in Arm Fencing... let along, Leg Fencing, and Standing Chi-Na Grappling. The Combat arts are designed for All ranges of Combat... and include grappling, throws, short range power hits, as well as several weapons. In Ancient Pre-Industrial China... there want the same type of protection you see today, from modern "Police" forces. Especially when traveling in the wilderness, on the long dirt paths... between towns. At any moment in time... one, or several men... could chose to try to rob, and or "END" you. These thieves, likely would have weapons. As such, the Kung Fu training systems of that Era... had extensive training with both weapons, as well as multiple attackers. On one Documentary I saw about the Wudang style... they filmed 5 or so practitioners, that all had Chinese double edged swords in their hands. The students formed a circle... with their backs to each other.. all facing outwards. The master said, that this Configuration, was designed to be able to take on large groups of attackers. This is because, you are covering each others backs... as well as preventing the attackers from Entering at any Angle. These Ancient teachings, are long being forgotten... because, today... nobody really carries swords around... let alone... has to be fearful of large groups of weapon-holding fighters... coming to attack you. But back then... it was something that could have easily been.. a somewhat regular occurrence. Anyway... These examples are designed to be timed perfectly, with the perfect distances and responses. In reality, you might not be able to easily keep the first guy, under your control... while waiting for the other to get within range + throwing an attack. At that point, you would likely have struck the person, rather than just trying to walk him around. And obviously... if it were a real serious situation... you typically use Lethal level Impact responses... well before resorting to grappling measures. But... there are many variables at play... so there are many reasons for different types of responses. Finally, the difficulty you mention, about defending against a single attacker, is again.. likely due to your lack of training in the Chinese combat arts... where you learn to Intercept / Deflect / Wedge the attacks away from you. Of course, its not as simple as watching some videos, and or a month of training. You are talking several years of hardcore efforts... to reach a Reliably Competent level of combat abilities. A good drill to try... is to use one arm... against your partners two. You likely will never be able to land a hit on them... but if you are skilled enough, you can actually use a single arm... to effectively nullify both of their arms... no matter what they try... even against quick combinations. Ive actually used this to do demos for MMA, and other arts styles ...to show them some of the differences, in how these arts function.

No you're right, this is not practical. This is assuming the situation is ideal and the person you grab cooperates or is surprised at the perfectly right time to allow this to happen. You're better off when cornered by two opponents to either take one to the ground or try to knock one out, in order to scare the other off. It's not guaranteed to work but that's life.

@@notapplicable8957 I have 30 years of experience, spanning many different arts. If you think its a good idea to try to take One OP down... while the other is still standing.. then you are a clueless Idiot, that deserves the Fate of getting your Head Caved in by the standing OPs soccer Kick. This is the problem with Modern MMA training. They teach you Sportized responses... that are not Combat realistic at all. One of the MMA fighters I had over... showed me his fist. His middle knuckle had been driven about 1cm deep into his own fist. Why? When he tried the Ground and Pound, on a dude that was on the Pavement... he learned the HARD WAY... that pavement isnt like those Shock Absorbing Rubberized Gym Mats. Because MMA training does not Condition the fists at all... his knuckle was Permanently Disfigured. Had he done Proper Iron Fist conditioning... that never would have happened. Furthermore... had be been more skilled, and smarter... he would have KO'd the dude while he was Standing... rather than going for a Takedown. Especially considering that his buddies COULD have kicked him into Oblivion. I suggest you hunt down Security cam footage, of actual barefist Encounters... and see what Really happens to fools that end up on the Ground, against multiple attackers. Its not Pretty... and 9 times of out 10... the result is Fatal.
@johndough8115
@johndough8115 24 күн бұрын
@@notapplicable8957 Im going to add, that what he is showing, is more "Conceptual", than Actual. Meaning... that he would change his choices of techniques, based on the OPs Positions / Distances, and timings. You are not supposed to intentionally Create this exact situation, by stepping in the exact positions... and waiting for the OPs to be in the right alignments. However, IF the OPs are close to each other, and their attacks are within a short time-frame between each... then you can utilize this, or something similar to it. The responses you choose are based on the Level of threat... the timings, positions, and your level of Skills. Personally, Im capable of Lethal level Strikes... so I would take each OP out, one after the other... with singular hits (or trap and hits, or Counter-Hits... etc). If the attackers were some 13 year old punks... I "might" be more included to just throw them around, similar to whats seen here. The teacher seems to be making the case, that a female may not be capable of KO level forces.. and so a more Fluid level of Soft-Skills, may be more effective... My only issue with that... is that what he is teaching is just a conceptual thing... rather than a whole art that is centered on non-striking based self defense (IE.. like modern Aikido). Furthermore... you still might wish to retain Strikes to Sensitive areas, such as the Eyes, Groin, Throat, and Spine / Neck. But like Ive said... this is more Conceptual, than anything. I do believe that this dude, is actually likely able to pull off such things, in heavy sparring tests + actual Combat. Hes appears to be at a level that most never reach, let alone... even think is possible / realistic. Ive met and sparred against someone that was very similarly skilled. He mopped the floor with me... and thats no easy feat... considering that at the time.. I was defeating the local blackbelts, with fair ease. He knew about 7 different arts.. mostly Chinese arts.. and he was Masterclass level with all of them.

@@johndough8115 In a real street fight, if these people were aggressive and determined, they would close in and jump on top of you. So none of this would actually make sense. Even striking might not help you very much against two people because they can lay hold of you before you get to do what you need to do. We need to stop giving people bad advice and just explain and practice the reality of these situations. The reality is, you're not going to win a fight against two people at any skill level, unless one goes down fast and/or the other gets scared and runs away.
