Caine had no other choice. Tan went after him for the pettiest of reasons and met his own end by his own weapons. It's a shame that Tan did not teach his daughter any better. She had the same attitude, the same craving for combat. And it's funny we never saw her again after this episode.

A couple of things were never explained regarding Tan. First, why was he called Tan, but back at the temple called (Master) Dow? Also, when his character was first introduced and he was talking with his underlings, I remember him saying "It''s good to be back". Back from where? Was he in jail or something?
