It's not his only feat it's just his *best* feat, in his chapter, he also defeats Kintaro and Goro, which is a major feat since he Liu Kang defeated Goro as well. If Kung Lao comes out that way it's because he got dogwalked on MK11.

The Kung Lao in MK1 is going to be a different Kung Lao. As in a different person entirely. The Kung Lao we know is a descendant of the great Kung Lao. MK1 will have the great Kung Lao instead of the one we know and he will be Liu Kang's chosen one.

I honestly think that’s exactly why it happened. Either the writers right after thought they had to dial it back because he could at this point kick Shao Khan’s ass since the Deadly Alliance had done that.
