Hi Nina, I plan to walk the Kungsleden this summer on my own and was wondering whether you could share with me if you brought any kind of safety gadgets like a pocket alarm or similar with you. I never went hiking by myself for a longer period of time and thought it might be smart to be prepared for any worst case. Do you have any thoughts on this you can share with me? all the best :)

Hi Sophia, first of all awsome that you are going to hike the Kungsleden! On the trail i only have an emergency whistle with me. Especially on the part i hiked in the video that is all you need. The trail is well marked and there are enough people around to help you if you get in trouble. Last year i did the southern section going south to north which is far less crouded and i would not see a lot of people in a day, i would have liked a spot device in hind sight. But as with all gear is just your own comfort level. I hope i have helped you a little, good luck and have fun on the trail!!

Hi Nina, my daughter is going to walk the trail, starting at Abisko and I’m worried that she can’t find a gas cartridge (she’s going by plane to Kiruna). Now I see at the end of your lovely video a gas cartridge. Can you please tell me where you bought it, did you buy it at the turiststation? Thanks for your answer. Best whishes, Annemieke

Hi Annemieke i bought my gas in Stockholm actually because I was taking the train. I think there is a outdoor shop in kiruna they will definitely sell gas(Google will probably tell you more about that then me) as well as the fallstation in abisko and even the shop at the hut in abiskojeure if I remember correctly. So getting gas is really not that difficult. Happy hiking for your daughter! It's an amazing trail

Je bent de tweede dame uit Nederland, die ik dit gedeelte, van de kungsleden, solo zie lopen. (ik ben wat filmpjes aan het checken voor inspiratie voor volgend jaar) Pretty amazing, with lots of respect!
