This is actually surprisingly unique. It also doesn't have the "current day" dreary and "I want to be the next souls-like so bad" color palette that everyone tends to go with. Tower defense elements, micro-management of troops, the day/night cycle to split the prep and battle phases, the surprisingly unique aesthetic compared to it's contemporaries like Nioh and Sekiro, it isn't "super stylized", but it isn't "hyper realistic", it's a middle ground that allows for a rather bright and colorful artstyle with some seriously lush and vibrant scenery. The combat actually looks pretty neat, I'm curious to see if it's more of a hack-and-slash or your souls-like "dodge roll around and wait for an opening". There are moments where I think some skills are being used, there's clearly some kind of charge mechanic, and also dodging, but it doesn't seem as focused on the "brutal timing" of the latter. Surprisingly it doesn't look like a live-service game.. From Capcom. In 2024. It also doesn't look like a F2P game and I don't see how it could be a heavily monetized multiplayer game. Are we in some kind of Twilight Zone episode? It'll probably be a budget title, maybe $40(at lowest)~$60(at highest). It'll be interesting to see how this pans out.

Oh wow, it's a mix of tower defense and melee action. I gotta say it's a bold move because : 1. It's a new IP. 2. A mix of genres which is tough to balance. However, I appreciate the bold move because it's not chasing trends. The art style and the gameplay is pretty unique.

This game actually looks fun, the graphic alongside the artstyle, especially the VFX are really top notch. But I'm hoping there will be more than one playable & controllable character. I'm setting my eyes on the shrine maiden because I'm a huge sucker for playing backline, voguing, slaying, and dancing my way into buffing the team and exorcising the shit out of enemies.

I've been saying for years that dark depressing art and themes are not distinctly Japanese/Asian style like Sekiro or Ghost of Tsushima. The Japanese culture my family grew up with was very bright and colorful. Even with depictions of gore in old Japanese woodblock prints the images are extremely colorful. I'm glad to see all this color. Remind me a lot more of games like Okami and Bushido Blade that were much more colorful and feel more traditionally Japanese.

I didn't expect much from this game, but it turned out to be really good. I can even call it no worse than the recently released Wukong. You can feel the flavor of the developers' culture, and it's interesting to study the game's features, I really spent time near the board with wooden cards of enemies and characters, looking at their models, which are made very well. The originality of the enemies is also amazing, it's very different from the typical mobs of Western games, due to the fact that these are real yokai from Japanese folklore, some of them really got creepy. The typical development elements for games are made in an exciting way, the tsubas and figurines were very interesting to look at and study. There is a lot to say about the design and interface, not without flaws, but this is a breath of fresh air, which is made by the hands of talented people

The demo was actually really fun and it's the closet thing we ever get to a new okami/onimusha (surprisingly a lot of similar mechanics and vibes even though they are all different genres). Shame the game will probably end up niche/a cult classic but I hope it does well it's quite cool to see capcom doing something unique like this again. The positive reviews give me hope more people will give it a try.

Too bad Clover Studio is already been dissolved into CAPCOM Main Studio, and 2 Key people from Clover, now are in different company; Atsushi Inaba, now becomes the CEO of Platinum Games, and Shinji Mikami now active on his own Company. I really love to see both of them working together again, like in the past (With Okami, God Hand, Viewtiful Joe, etc), but it seems like a fleeting Dream.
