• Tibetan community in France protests as museums’ change references of Tibet to Xizang. The Tibetan community in France and supporters have launched a protest against two major French museums for changing references to Tibet as Zizang in their exhibition supporting China’s historical revisionism and cultural erasure efforts. Students for Free Tibet France has also launched an online petition campaign. In August, a group of researchers specializing in Tibet and Asian studies published an open letter in the Le Monde highlighting Musee Du Quai Branly and Musee Guimet changing Tibet into Xizang and Himalayan World in their catalogue and exhibition section.
• Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile passes amendments and concludes. On the final day of the eighth session the Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile, charter amendments related to the criteria and tenure of the Justice Commission and Supreme Justice Commission were passed with two thirds majority. The session also included resolutions expressing gratitude for international support, notably from the United States Congress on passing the Resolve Tibet Act and Australian Senator Janet Rice for her support and starting a Parliamentarian Tibet support group.
• Hezbollah threatens revenge for Pager Explosions that killed 12 and wounded thousands. Lebanese media report that at least three people were killed and dozens wounded in a second wave of explosions targeting the militant group Hezbollah. More electronic devices detonated Wednesday after exploding pagers killed at least 12 people and wounded almost 3,000 on Tuesday. Hezbollah has vowed revenge. Linda Gradstein reports for VOA from Jerusalem.
