How about against a noncompliant, moving opponent who is also striking chaotically at you?

Looks like they're teaching techniques - something that requires that he actually show what he's doing in the first place before setting people loose to spar. Out of curiosity, how do you teach new skills? Seems to me that people have to crawl and then walk - then they run, otherwise all you're doing is flailing away mindlessly.
