Love the contact of your uke's, not just hitting the air. Simple fast self-protection and exit. Too many people think fighting! No , the purpose is for you to get in and out and get somewhere safe.

I just want to say that I bought your book on "Fighting Patterns Of Kuntao And Silat I must say that it is the most incredible and indepth book on silat I've ever read.

You are so right. If people had any idea what's in that book they would study it like it was the book of life - the floor patterns alone are priceless. If you can figure out how to stand them up and make them three dimensional you are light years ahead. Chris and his black belts are phenomenal. Congrats to you for getting the book and good luck training.

I like what he does (striking speed, power & versatility), but I feel that more striking control should be used, especially to the face. I come from the old school training in Hawaii (kenpo/Kajukenpo) 1960s where striking the student was done with very little control which resulted in a lot of injuries. I don't feel that this is necessary and don't indulge in training my students in this way today. Prevents a lot of injuries/potential law suits. Just my opinion, no offense intended!

Looks like a lot of variations of 5 swords.

IMO, too much reliance on hand speed and not enough on controlling the opponent's structure through positioning and off-balancing.

very interesting video,but is the result of many years of practice? maybe the teacher hands work this way from birth?
@ryohazuki30717 жыл бұрын
irhong irhong no he actually got a lot faster sence back then. being born with speed is a myth. it can be tought. its about body controll. some ppl are closer to perfect body controll while others are stiff as a board.

A little too Kenpo-ish for Silat/Kuntao.

Excellent training!!! I feel the striking contact on students doesn't have to be so hard. However back in the day that's how was introduced to combatives and it helped a lot. Now a days our teaching style is a little different working with Military and Law Enforcement we mostly train with safely gear and save the heavy hitting for testing time. I find from the videos Chris to be the real deal and he knows the players at the government level training tactical combatives. www.nolieblades.com

Hank Hayes yes he is brother. the whips and shock palm he uses may look and sound nasty but it actually conditions you body and nervous system to build resistance. is a low key thing

This only work if opponent don’t have any martial arts training. If he try this shit with boxer or kick-boxer he get knocked out in minutes.

Go to one of his seminars and tell him that, he will humiliate you on video and make you look like a clown. But of course you never will.

Kun Tao lol I can’t believe so many people waste time here to learn this useless fighting style. Yeah maybe for fitness or fun it’s not bad
