I just finally decided to watch this show and when Kurapika went to fight him i thought he was insane. Considering Kurapikas convictions, i thought he'd meet a spider before he was ready. I thought when he met one, he'd fight them too early simply because of his emotions. I thought he was fucking dead after seeing the shadow beasts annihilated like that, so I was glad Melody got him to stop. When he went to fight him anyway i was on the edge of my seat man. This arc of the show was incredibly well written.

Having read the manga, I would say that Kurapika went extremelly easy on this guy. Knowing what they did to his people, and how they did it, Kurapika could've tortured him way harder. If anything, it shows how nice of a guy Kurapika is.
