The Hotel struggled to attracts guest and was sold off twice between 1919 and 1931. It was used by the Nazis to hold functions and events during the 1930s, and briefly housed refugees from the Sudetenland in 1938, before being used by the Luftwaffe until the end of the war.
After the war, the Kurhotel Zippendorf was used to house concentration camp survivors, then as a children's home until finally being used as a clubhouse for the sportsclub SC Traktor Schwerin.
After 1990, it was taken over by the Treuhand AG, and eventually switched owners 3 times between 2008 and 2016. The current owner is still looking for investors to convert the former hotel into apartments.
