Your cottages are really beautiful. I'm always so mesmerized when you make them. Thanks for sharing your tutorial, especially on a very prized item you sell. I think that says a lot about a potter.

Thank you so so much for sharing how you make your beautiful cottages. Id love to make one, my Nana always drew little Irish country cottages on scraps of paper for me to colour in when I was a child. I'd love to turn one into one of her drawings :) It will be treasured so much and lighting it up will be extra special

HI Mandy, oh wow that's so cute that your nana used to do that for you - I'm imagining lots of different colourful cottages that you can take inspiration from, kinda jelous haha! If you do make them I would love to see how they turn out x

You do such beautiful work on your cottages! I’m looking for a tutorial on your page for the tiny, incense cottages that have no bottom and the roof does not come off, so you place the entire house over the incense or tealight, do you have a tutorial for this?:)

Thank you soooo much for this tutorial! I fell in love with these little houses when I saw your instagram account and would love to try and make them myself, even though I’ve never tried out pottery before haha. I therefore don’t have a kiln, and though I’ll never get the same end results, I’d still like to try out with some clay that I could bake in my oven. In the hope it would actually turn out okay, do you think I could still use it as an incense holder or will the quality of the clay be hindering? Thanks for you help! And thank you for your amazing content, i can spend hours scrolling on instagram but it’s rare that someone inspires me enough that i want to seriously give it a go!!
@BlankEarthCeramics2 жыл бұрын
Hi Lea, ah that's so lovely to hear, I'm glad you like my little houses! You should definitely give it a try yourself if you feel inspired. You can try air hardening clay if you don't have a kiln, which I think should be ok with incense (I haven't tried this out, and be careful as some air hardning clay included paper fibres which could burn). I would love to see what you make! Let me know if you have any other questions x
@Carolinatechima Жыл бұрын
this is beautiful! Did you glaze also the inside? I tried doing a house similar to that, but after a few minutes the incense went out on its own, so I don't know what might be causing this :(
@BlankEarthCeramics Жыл бұрын
Hey Carol, yes I do glaze the insides! I wax the bottom and edges, when just dip everything in the glaze bucket and then wipe where necessary. If your incense is going out, I would guess that there isn't enough airflow to keep it burning, so you might have to add more window holes, or make them larger. Hope that helps!
@ingrid- Жыл бұрын
@@BlankEarthCeramics So you put the roof on the house while burning, right? And the meeting point of house and roof doesn‘t have glaze on it? Or would it be easier to put them next to each other in the kiln? I want to try this beautiful little houses, they are sooo cute! ❤
@BlankEarthCeramics Жыл бұрын
Hi Ingrid yep that's right! I like to have them together when you fire them just in case there is any warpage there will still be a good fit but by all means try firing them separately its just something I haven't done before. Let me know if you have any other questions and good luck!@@ingrid-

how to make a shiny house

Hey! You they have different levels of shine depending on what glaze you use, so if you want it super shiny you can just find a really glossy glaze. Hope that helps!
