Synopsis: Siddi Subba steals banana in his landlord’s farm where he works as a servant. His three children go to catch crabs in the same farm, then the landlord and his son realized that some one stolen banana within their periphery when they found bunch of banana hidden in a pit. One of the Siddi Subba’s son accused as culprit. Father is not accepting his own guilt he committed, accused child is unaware of the situation.

For all those people complaining about this short film. Here is the explanation- This short film depicts life in a remote village. In remote villages, there is absolutely no way one can pass the time doing constructive things all the time. And especially famers in Uttara Kannada district don't grow sugarcane or paddy. They grow Betelnut, Banana, Coconut, Spices etc. A farmer knows every inch of his crop. The thief here is a known person, a farm labourer. When he steals the bananas, he leaves it there fearing retaliation but hides it somewhere he feels safe. When the son comes to kNow that someone has stolen the banana, he thinks of a business opportunity. He is jobless could also have some habits. For that he needs money, thus sees an opportunity. The camera work depicts this uncertain lifestyle in the village. No one's life is perfect there. Everything is hazy. The film making is a reflection of that. The focus on and off depicts that. So when his dad finds out that someone has stolen the banana, the son wants to prove something to his dad that he is capable, that he is worth something and not a misfit. Thus he somehow wants to put the blame on the kid. This is reflection of our current police system, where police wants to close the case as soon as possible so they just victimize someone who seemingly is the culprit. Finally when the lid realises that the that same banana was responsible for blaming him, making him a thief for his entire life, he shuns it, thros it to the river. This is a symbolic way of telling, he wants to come out of this flawed system. Hope you understand now. The hazy focus, the black and white images depicts this uncertainty, this paranoia.

Such a powerful little story. It encompasses so many hidden layers. The weak and innocent silently suffer while the strong take the cake. It really is a reflection if our current system, and the underlying message is extremely important. Kudos to the whole team behind this masterpiece, that is subtle and raw. Special mention to 2 people's acting. Maruthi Siddi and Mates Hedge. Natesh Hedge acting has a kind of swag, a subtle underplay which is both ferocious and dominating. I think he can really enter our KFI!!!! ALL THE BEST TEAM!

Yes, the father is the thief. Not many viewers get it the first time.. even I didn't get it. But was trying to figure out what the film is conveying.. Then I read Uday Bhagwat's (a viewer) comment who said, known people like labourers are the ones who steal. I watched the stealing scene again. The father and the thief are the same person.. with a hole at the back of his T-shirt..

Fantastic Writing.I see a lot of influence of Robert Bresson in this film, like the use of non-professional actors,minimalist approach but that should not be an excuse for bad sound.Seems like the dialogues recorded from the camera's internal recorder is used.The poor reception of dialogues spoils the whole experience of the movie.Please don't let the technical shortcomings spoil a material beautiful such as this.

Diksuchi Kannada brother you need to understand that the way we put a camera can have a big affect on what the picture tells us , the angles of shots can dramatically affect the audience how character is perceived ! Here the characters are flawed and not perfect , we don’t put camera on characters , cinema is al about putting characters on camera . The out of focus is absolutely done with intent in this case

The father is the actual thief.. He wants his son to take the blame and close the issue. He won't take the blame, if he does then he'll lose his trust with the landlord. The landlord's son wants to prove to his dad that he caught the thief. The landlord just plays along. But the best message is the child's innocence. He doesn't want to take the blame as he hasn't stolen and finally he won't even keep the bananas because it was the cause of all this. The father doesn't stop the boy from throwing away the bananas because of his own guilt..
