I wont comment on the quality of technique or the art. but i think it is great to see kuroda sensei being thrown by his students. a good sign of humility and master student relationship.

i did a little research on the net and it seems that sensei is from shinbukan kuroda dojo. that's his family system of martial arts ("ryu-gi"). it's a form of kobudo ( old martial arts) which consists of a mix of kenjutsu, iaijutsu, jujutsu and bojutsu.
@RonnySayfan15 жыл бұрын
Actually there is no art in martial arts without full contact sparring! The art is in the timing, the sensetivity and fluidity of movement, and especially in the fact it's REAL. Your opponent MUST resist to the best of his ability or the authenticity of training is jeopardized. The very beginning of it is the quenching of the ego (I'm afraid to lose, so I rationalize), and of the fear to get injured. This is true for sporting competitions as well as to spiritual advancement through MA.

@erikuu96 not if you live in japan we still sit on the floor like this in tatami rooms. in fact many asian countries still sit like this in public places and in traditional hospitality areas. also japanese houses in the traditional style.

Erm, the martial 'techniques' came first, then the 'arts' and their traditions then, in more recent times when fighting to kill has become unnecessary the 'sport' aspect was introduced. Sport with its rules, time limits and restricted space actually detracts from the tradition of the martial arts. This is an awesome video too. Nice Jujitsu demo.
@LuisRodriguezIdeanologies15 жыл бұрын
This is traditional ju jutsu, it's very alike to aikido since judo and aikido were born from ju jutsu. The main difference is that ju jutsu has some striking techniques and yuuwaza that is finger manipulation (very effective)
@oftheheezay14 жыл бұрын
ofcourse they do!!! Not all hand to hand combat starts with punshing or kicking so if someone grabs your arm or something you can execute those. but you are right, with traditional selfdefense styles its hard to stop a punshing and kicking opponent
@JeffreyJamesLippold14 жыл бұрын
They do teach trapping and parrying. But you are partially correct. Depends what school and teacher you learned from. This is not quite how I learned these techniques, this resembles Aikido more. And yes these techniques are deadly on the street. I have been jumped twice by multiple guys and it works great.

@pcjudosambo Taekwondo, judo and aikido all spring from a form of jiu jitsu / ju jutsu
@oceanichippie13 жыл бұрын
@Kamikazen1 True. But what is sto stupid is that people talk in generic ways like saying "I practice Jujutsu". They don't know Jujutsu is so varied and can be so different. Jujutsu was derived from arts like koshi-no-mawari, hobaku, taijutsu, wajutsu, torite, kenpo, hakuda, shubaku and yawara. One style stresses are different aspect found in any of these arts. That's why many jujutsu styles are not even similar in appearance or technique.

@FIS1991 Riiiight.... and since BMW means Bayerische Motoren Werke which means Bavarian Motor Works, every kind of motor done in Bavaria is by default a BMW. Shishin Takuma Ryu is much older than Aikido in every way... I think Kuroda sensei would be really upset at calling his art aikido...
@pcjudosambo13 жыл бұрын
@Kamikazen1 That's what I heard. But I also heard that it wasn't just your typical Ju-Jutsu school. Since there were dozens of different styles and schools of Ju-Jutsu, Aikido was developed from a typical school (not the same school that was influenced on Judo). Of course many techniques are the same even amongst the different JuJutsu schools but the sphere of influence is clearly shown between the Ju-Jutsu school that influenced Judo and Aikido. This is what I heard, I may be wrong.

@junkahoolik15 жыл бұрын
ju jutsu (it really doesn't matter how you translate it in romanji btw, except in the brazilian jiu jitsu "martial art") was not a style per se until after the 1900. all schools that practiced bare hand fighting were collectively named ju jutsu schools. the name of the ryu's differed, but they were all ju jutsu schools. after the meiji restoration, judo was "invented" as a way to keep the schools alive even with some compromises made.
@oceanichippie13 жыл бұрын
@gendaiyawara I tend to disagree. Aiki and Ju are both combined in Daito Ryu, but still these two principles are very different. An example to show you the difference is to have a look at Judo and Aikido. They are both very different in nature and technique. There are indeed a few similarities, but they are very different. Remember, both Ueshiba O Sensei as Kano O Sensei have studied many Ryu of Jujutsu which were all very different.

@pcjudosambo No. Aikido developed from Daito Ryu. This is Shishin Takuma Ryu afaik. Different lineage and principles.
@pcjudosambo13 жыл бұрын
@Jujutsu4U2Cdirt yes, plus who said that this type (old version) of juJutsu cannot be applied to modern day self-defense. This is a deadly art that can be applied now and 1000 years from now. Human nature will not change, attack is an attack and has been an attack for thousands of years before us and thousands of years after us.

could very well be so ... But most old jutsu schools seems to stem from the same root (which makes sence) and the "aiki" thing - which is so much emphasised (spelling?) in aikido is pretty common in many styles... proberbly cause it helps to deal with opponents stronger than one self...

What you fail to understand is that these exercises are not MODELS OF FIGHTING. They are EXAMPLES of principles being executed. If I obey these theories and principles, they can be applied to any situation. My attack and defense will not look like what you see in these sequence of movements. I'm very open minded. However, I have a hard time understanding or communicating with someone who tells me what MY ART is when he/she has never practiced it. Best of luck.

I would say that many tend to be sprots-centric. But that doesn't mean that there aren't traditional, BJJ schools for instance, that don't adhere to tradition. Its not fair to lump all martial arts school together under one banner; that is the folly of labeling martial arts.

then, after the 1900ts, people started combining some styles with judo (usualy Karate) and started calling the martial arts that came from this Ju Jutsu. but they are not really ju jutsu schools. in ju jutsu you usually have to know a weapon or 2 and you have to defend against it just by mutodori. what "school" teaches that nowadays?? so, yeah, traditional Ju Jutsu schools have nothing to do with Karate. modern ones though...

Um...this is a kata...it is not supposed to be realistic. It is used to train principles that are to be practically applied in combat. What you are watching is an exercise. This NOT how they would fight you in real life. In kata, there is a sequence of movements that trains your body. This isn't sparring.

Who he studies with is irrelevant, as is whether he has met Kuroda or not. Though Kuroda is obviously very skillful, his partner is extremely compliant. Whether they actually train like that or not is another matter. As is what one thinks of compliance in martial arts training...
@junkahoolik15 жыл бұрын
get your facts straight. in japan, ju jutsu means something close to bare hand fighting. japanese put more emphasis on locks and body manipulation because they fought in armor and, i wouldn't recommend you punch a armor. then again, people get their heads punched for 30 minutes and think it's normal so... anyway, most modern ju jutsu schools are just a combination of karate and judo. or they are specialized for ring fighting (meaning don't go to the ground in a crowded club). this, aikido? na

No, THIS IS KATA...I can even tell you the names of each of these TWO MEN KATA. How would you know what this style does or doesn't train it's practitioners to do? This isn't Aikido, it's classical jujutsu and what you are seeing is a two man drill/form. Since you haven't met Kuroda Sensei or know his theories, you should not speak of something you know nothing about or have experienced.

Practice and Fighting is different !!! Get that douche bag. Without the old grandmasters and experts of jujitsu judo kempo karate etc , there would not even be brazilian jujitsu , mma , kickboxing events, caged fights and competition matches that you lame-oes know. Kata does have its practical side and that is what we Japanese call Bunkai. Practical applications of the forms. Shut your trap if you do not know anything about Budo and stop being bullish without any knowledge.
