I love how Saeki can run so fast, that even the camera can't catch up with him. Hell, even his attack animations look like they're fast forwarded. Also, I really like his boss theme. Shame about that helicopter in the background tho.

I'm starting to understand why you don't hear much about this spinoff. Why would he throw the sword when fighting Snake from Golgo 13? I'm telling you, if there's Japanese media, with a crazy guy and a blade, chances are, they have that guy lick the blade, at least once. Majima doesn't count, he's not that crazy

That reminds me of a funny 4 paneI comic I saw on the Yakuza subreddit where Majima threatens someone with his knife in p1, explains how the blade has deadly poison on it in p2, then absentmindedly does the creepy guy knife licking thing in p3 and p4 is just Majima lying dead on the ground lol. He would probably forget something like that. Also this is only related in the sense that it's about a knife enthusiast in a Japanese thing, but the PS2 horror RPG Shadow Hearts has a boss in it named Jack who I swear to god is just Majima in Kiryu's white Yakuza Zero suit. He even cackles like our favorite cyclops. The weirdest part is Shadow Hearts came out 4 years before Yakuza 1...

@@gaminggoddess85 Mighta been the inspiration. I know the clip that came from, too. It was some show in Japan like a quest type thing, there's that same character that does it. I saw FOTNS's opening scene, some guy's licking an axe. On a somewhat unrelated note, I still want Majima's demon blade. Jack might have been Majima's inspiration

@@kamikaze4172 Yup that's what the comic came from lol. I figured it was a reference but I didn't know to what. I think I've seen a little of that show before though, I remember the blue turban dude casually looting strangers' houses as RPG protags do. Maybe I'll binge-watch it the next time I'm bored, it was pretty funny IIRC. I doubt Jack was the inspiration for Majima cuz Shadow Hearts, while awesome, was kinda obscure. Plus I don't think Majima's the kind of person who'd sacrifice orphans in a forbidden ritual to resurrect his dead mother whom he has an unhealthy attachment to (said mother comes back as a horrible angry flesh abomination after you interrupt the ritual). The resemblance is so uncanny though. Then again the game Dead to Rights had its own "Majima" named Patch another 2 or 3 years before Yakuza 1 (if Majima had pink hair and compared everything to theater) so I'm starting to think crazy eyepatch criminal guys just aren't the most original character concept (well there was pirates, wasn't there). Oh well, we still love Majima anyway.

@@imliterallyadachi He's actually the hardest boss according to the community his speed and super armor during his attacks is what makes him difficult in a sense. He isn't as annoying as Oba's super armor.

@Crazeh Boi no, I mean the sounds really seem like they just pulled the most obnoxious royalty free sounds (especially that bite sound). Plus the same exact battle grunts will play many times in a row with no variation at all.

@@CaptainNight yeah. They made a lot of graphical improvements from the first game like giving the cutscenes higher resolutions and a second city. So I'm guessing they focused on making it look good than sound good.
