its because on some cultures (including mine) elders getting more respect than others, when you meet with your boyfriend/girlfriend's family you are introducing yourself like "hey i'm name and surname and this is my profession or i'm going to highschool,college etc if you are still a student. and you don't have to add your parent's professions but they'll %100 ask that and idk why tbh , it happened to me twice 😂 the hobby part etc ofc unnecessary but they probably put that for some comedy elements. i heard on western culture people are more relax with elders tho
