I'm chilean and i'm really ashamed how we behave in competition. Due mostly to the poor educational system, and senseis who fail to educate pupils on good behaviour, when we compete internationally we tend to give a really bad etiquette 'cause of the excitement. This guy doesn't belongs in Japan competing, he belongs in the octagon of a mma tournament

Es la exitacion misma de ir ganando en algo tan importante... lo que hace celebrar asi... es como los humildes celebran... tal cual lo hizo jeannot mulolo el año 98... nada tiene que ver con no tener respeto... en fin ... mas respeto y entendimiento ... respecto a esta hazaña ... celebrando o no celebrando... igual logro ser campeon... oss!

Por primera vez, veo la perdida de miedo de los contrincantes occidentales y la perplejidad de los jueces japoneses. Es una realidad latente en todos los videos de los campeonatos donde podemos ver el gozo casi masoquistas de los japoneses cuando ganan cualquier contienda con muy buena ayuda de los jueces sean japoneses u occidentales. Ojala los occidentales tomaran las riendas como este nuevo campeon. Su forma de celebrar cada wazari es no quizas la mejor para nosotros los practicantes que tenemos cerca de 50 anos en este arte, pero no se puede negar que la falta de humildad y muchas veces las risas de cuando un japones infrigia un contundente golpe que dejaba lesionado a su contrincante esta mas que plazmado en los videos. Oh es que acaso se nos olvida la consigna de todo el equipo japones contra un gran Caballero Brennan. Es una lastima que muchas de las opiniones expuestas les hace falta peso. Recuerden que si el Karate esta como esta, no es por culpa de los occidentales sino del mismo pais de origen, que se han encargado de creerse que nada mas que ellos pueden ser los mejores. Todavia hace falta mucho para desarrollar un mejor Karate Do, Tenemos Karate pero el Do ya salio por la ventana por culpa de los mismos practicantes del pais del sol naciente.

He leído declaraciones del competidor chileno finalmente ganador de la medalla de oro en kumite, acerca de algún tipo de parcialidad a favor de los japoneses y en perjuicio de él, acusación que ni tiene sustento (nada de eso se vio en el torneo) ni debería hacerla tan a la ligera, desprestigiando a su propia asociación y a los senseis que cargan con la responsabilidad de arbitrar con justicia. La actitud competitiva, con esos gestitos desafiantes y exitistas es indigna de JKA y más propia del mundo del negocio del espectáculo del mma. En definitiva, una falta de respeto para sus rivales, una demostración de ignorancia acerca de los principios fundamentales del arte. Horrible.

Humble is what the Chileno needs to be!! No need for the finger pointing, celebrating and disapproval of calls being made. Lack of discipline and respect. Bow to your opponent shake his hand walk back and again bow before exiting the ring. Self control Chileno!!

It’s a pity that the Chilean karateka ‘claims’ every attack. This won’t be a great advert for Karate at the Olympics. We should be better than the jokers who show this same poor attitude in Taekwondo and Judo in the Games already.

I think the same, even thought i'm chilean, i would preffer to keep an respectful attitude in martial arts, not only karate. Karate, as many other martial arts, is not only to grow in physical strenght, but in mind and personality.
