I always love how each martial artist featured goes otaku when they see a new facet of a martial arts. The passion is very warm and infectious! I hope this translates correctly:

That movement he done in this is also used in Kenpo Karate, the only reason I know this is due to the fact that I was thought it myself doing it, but there were two ways to do it as far as I know, one was a salute to person, the other was saying it was a fight to the death, but it has been so long now since I done Kenpo that I can't really remember.

One thing that struck me watch this at the attack around 4:40 or so is how much it is like the British Boxer Prince Naseem back in the day, if anyone on here hasn't heard of him I suggest looking up his fights on youtube. I also studied Karate and got to Purple belt before I had to move towns and so stopped training and I loved Bruce Lee, wish I could have studied Karate more and of course I read the Tao of Jeet Kun do and love the philosophy and style

! Power Analysis ! Karate straigh punch: from rear foot, goes diagonal to pelvis, goes vertical to rear shoulder, goes horizontal to fist. Power generation: rear leg, torso torque, body weight transferred asymmetrically by pectoral muscle and shoulder muscle. JKD straight lead: from rear foot: goes diagonal to lead shoulder, goes horizontal to fist. Power generation: rear leg, higher body weight transferred directly into lead arm via shoulder socket joint.

I have been involved in understanding martial arts since I was a child. I tried a few, interpreted them, and even mastered a few. By now, the image of the Japanese is that they try to explain everything logically, mostly with anatomy and physics. Not sure if that's good. Perhaps it is understandable why Karate has had relatively little success in MMA. Bruce Lee also only gave philosophical thoughts that show and convey emotions and symbols. Using a completely different part of the human brain than the creators and instructors of Japanese martial arts in general. Have we ever seen a martial artist come up with a new technique or movement since the 60's in karate, kick-boxing or Boxing competitions, and if someone tried to explain it with a logical interpretation, he was able to execute it perfectly. If you look at it, every single MMA fighter who has achieved success is very unique and different, something new compared to his predecessors. However, when he starts teaching, very rarely do his students come out with fighters who can match his results. Bruce Lee: "...be the water...!"

Karate and Japanese Budo in general is definitely not for MMA because they's not sports. The techniques are based on actual combat and the purpose is to neutralize your enemy. Obviously, we don't allow groin attacks, destroying eyes and joints in friendly matches, for good reason.
