In this Kursk update, Russia has moved helicopters to Kursk airport, a pontoon bridge was built to replace the Glushkovo Bridge after it was hit by JDAM over the Seym River, a Ka-52 crash site is seen and a rare T-72BA captured.

@@suchomimus9921 the map is out of date for sure. in west, russia evacuating glukovsky district because they found out ukraine took snagost and move to the river. in addition 2 bridges were hit out of the 3. korenove is now cut off from rylsk also with ukraine in topolino and aleksandrivka north of it. about 700 russian soldiers in that korenove garrison on the western side. a russian convoy sent to reinforce korenove was smashed also. you can bet there are drg units running up and down that highway to rylsk. northward ukraine is in control of kauchuk progress in east of sudzha is slower as russia has about 5k troops east of sudzha where they only have pockets of soldiers in strongholds in north and west. in terms of progress in east ukraine took ulanov, belitsa and giri. the fighting has move east of there from russian artillery bombardments there. its gonna be another week or two for russia to move 30k troops to kursk. right now they are sending in small groups of 300-700 men in strongholds to try to slow ukraine down in north and west. the problem is in maneuver warefare they go behind and cut off logistics and surround the pockets of russians and they either surrender or are eliminated. ukraine will take glukovsky district but with korenove encircled i believe they will move other units north to rylsk to get to the city and take all the high ground from ukraine border to rylsk to sudzha. there is a river north of rylsk also so if they can get that far it will be easier to defend with river and high ground. it basically straightens the frontline border as well being inside russia and its on high ground with a natural river obstacle making defence easier. have to wait for next ukrainian opsec lift to see where the new frontline of control is. it will expand north and west more easily as russia doesnt have alot of troops there just pockets of soldiers in strongholds. east will be where the real battle is probably mid to late next week starting. what you are seeing is tentacles going out, threatening encirclement. so the russians either have to move out or be encircled in north.

You're the only other person besides myself that knew the Glushkovo Bridge was finally taken out by a JDAM. 3 previous salvos of 2 HIMARS each had only damaged it. Everyone else here on You Tube is getting it wrong as well as major news outlets, so kudos to you. 👍👍
@fyrchmyrddin1937
@fyrchmyrddin1937 Ай бұрын
It's really kinda common sense, if one considers the warheads involved. Even if the HIMARS rocket used was the ("unitary") M31 it's only 200 lbs, and the ATACMS about double that, whereas the JDAM can be fitted to most bombs meaning at least 500 lbs. I'd seen this lack of comprehension numerous times (and mentioned it above regarding use of nukes). Civilians simply don't comprehend the way in which physics, Newton's 3rd Law, and ballistics truly work... no doubt thanks to decades of Hollywood!
@arthurdent5357

It might've been a combination. Himars to damage beams below the bridge to weaken it, and then a big blow by JDAM to finish it off.
@sjsomething4936
@sjsomething4936 Ай бұрын
Yeah, I was also speculating yesterday in another Suchomimus vid that it was likely a JDAM. The HIMARS strikes were important as well though, they made the bridge either impassable or a very risky route to heavy equipment until it could be properly JDAM-malleted to finish it off. It may have survived a few tanks going over it, but I’d expect the deck would have further opened up quickly as the movement continued to weaken the bonds between rebar and concrete, which would also have resulted in the equipment being trapped on the Ukrainian held side.

Hey suchomimus, I'd actually be interested in something like an end-of-the-week or end-of-the-month analysis. Mostly showing that week/month's visually confirmed losses on the map. Preferably with one week delay (so in week 32 you get an update from week 31) so false positives and the like can be filtered and in some cases Ukrainian Opsec can be a bit more obscure as you won't accidentally reveal footage that might have gone under the radar. The idea wouldn't be to go past every single loss, but to show colored geolocations of losses with icons. Tank icon for tanks, infantry icon for infantry etc. Numbers on one side indicate amount, on the other side you have a different number which corrosponds to a legend on the side which indicates vehicle type. For example: 1: T90 (any variant) 2: T80 3: etc Everyone does daily updates and some places do more time inbetween or less progress of the war but lift specific subjects (like Perun does). But no one gives an overview of "this is how last week went". It's so much harder to get an idea when all you get is daily updates and even the most neutral one's still need to pick and choose which faction gets more positive/negative screentime as they can't truly show everything. An overview of weekly progress would be ideal I think, filtered by making it about last week.

Definition of 'pontoon bridge' according to Collins; a bridge (esp temporary) that floats on water, supported by watertight floats or vessels eg 'A temporary pontoon bridge was thrown across the river during the Civil War.'
@cabanford
@cabanford Ай бұрын
Back in the early 90s we had a large mountain collapse (36 million cubic meters of rock) come down and completely full in the valley below. This dammed the river, putting half of the village of Randa underwater for the summer (until a diversionary tunnel was dug). The Swiss army built a long pontoon bridge across this lake (the main road to Zermatt was at the bottom of said lake). The whole summer was solid traffic (big tour busses) across this bridge. I'd definitely classify it as a "Bridge". Easy to hit with a drone, artillery, etc, but also very fast and easy to repair.

A pontoon is any kind of water tight item that floats on the surface of water. A pontoon bridge would simply be the pontoons plus the roads, rails, rafts, wooden or metal structures etc, that are attached to or supported by the pontoons. Not too difficult to understand, and widely used in war time, as well as peace time.

You don't want to hit it, leave it because you know exactly where your "kill funnel" is. You wait till they're clustered up in one spot to cross that rickety piece of shit, and then hit everyone with a handful of HIMARS.

A pontoon bridge over the Seym river that can be annihilated in no time? The Russians can just as well shell or sink their tanks and troops without waiting for Ukrainians. The effect would be the same. xD. BTW, the name of the river Seym (in Russian and Ukrainian spelled Сейм) is pronounced just like the English word 'same'.

Very informative report here Suchomimus, comprehensive, and well done. Thank you for this. The specificity of the various strikes on supply vehicles and their geo-locations are further proof that the Ukrainians are just continuously chopping at re-supply efforts from the Russians very effectively. They seem to be finding many valuable targets, and have a solid strategic plan in place for holding this land in Kursk. The KA-52 keychains are a must at the Merch Store now,.....nicely done Suchomimus. Slipped that one in perfectly. It's obviously important for the Ukrainians to knock out these regional connecting bridges, and makeshift pontoon bridges. Surely they'll continue their work with any or all of those that may be left including those further upstream, and forward. The Western population, and governments I will state are very impressed by what the Ukrainians have done with this shocking offensive. There has been a lot of chatter about this coming from the higher levels. Your reports again bring clear eyed context in many ways for the masses making it undeniable. This makes your efforts, and all of your work part of a historical registrant in this useless Russian provocation. We'll look forward to your updates with the usual hunger and appreciation for your expertise. 🇺🇲🇺🇦 Glory to God, Victory for Ukraine, Rise Free Nations!
