Russia is going for the crossroads supplying the northwest push to Koronevo. Ukraine is going for the River. The interesting thing about looking from afar is that this appears to be a strongly mobile war in Kursk. Ukraine is being mobile and using maneuver warfare to poke at holes along the border, while giving ground in less important sectors. The flip side of that is that Russia also can be mobile and it goes both ways. We'll see how things progress, but the Snaghost situation could be a feint to draw in a valuable VDV airborne brigade into encirclement. Lets see how things progress.
@palmtreeshenanigans2 күн бұрын
Ukraine is very fluid, they advance and retreat when needed, but overall they are I believe achieving their goals. While it is nice to see them advance just the fact Russia has been forced to send equipment there that could be used on other fronts is so very important for the overall effectiveness of Ukraine tactics.

@Bill-y4hКүн бұрын
I don't think advancing in uncontested ground across the face of the advance is classed as defeating the Ukrainian advance . It may just block the advance for a while . Ukraine troop advancing from the South and West will surround the Russians and then they may be forced to withdraw if they can . Which I predict they will mostly get wiped out because they are also trapped by a river and have limited withdrawal options .
@hotrodfeguy2 күн бұрын
Did you notice Russia doesn't completely destroy towns when they advance on Russian territory like they do in Ukraine
@EdwardRLyons2 күн бұрын
The first vehicle destroyed by a mine was a BMD, not a BMP. That would make these the VDV (airborne) being used to spearhead the Russian attack, not the rear echelon units we were previously led to believe were being used in Kursk.

All the territory between border and Seym river to Korenevo-Sudzha road to the East will be easy-peasy for Ukraine, as the bridges on Seym river are blown-up and Russia cannot re-supply this area. It's just a question of time. No rush.
@war-painter2 күн бұрын
I noticed that the entire Kursk region is crisscrossed with small (and big) rivers, which in the rainy seasons would make the area an impenetrable mucky swamp. Too bad it never rains in September, I thought. But recent heavy rains and swollen rivers in Eastern Europe proved me wrong. Will this make a difference in Kursk? Ukraine usually has the advantage in bad weather as they seem to have better stuff. Your opinion?

In Kursk I think we are seeing a new innovation in tactics being tried out. I call it the "Kursk Rope-a-Dope". “Rope-a-dope” is a boxing strategy famously used by Muhammad Ali in his 1974 fight against George Foreman, known as the “Rumble in the Jungle.” The strategy involves leaning back against the ropes, allowing the opponent to tire themselves out by throwing punches that are mostly deflected or absorbed by the ropes. Once the opponent is fatigued, the boxer using the rope-a-dope strategy can then go on the offensive. It’s a clever tactic that relies on endurance and the ability to withstand a lot of pressure before turning the tables.

I'm not sure they have to. Controlling territory in the traditional sense (where you sit on it) may not be Ukraine's strategy - especially not at the quickly evolving fronts. Just like you can control a supply road from afar as long as it's within artillery range, maybe you can control a sparsely-protected area through fluid movement throughout area. Kinda like keeping a king in check moving in a Chess game.
