Kurt was a profound thinker. Who among us wouldn't want to have a chance to hang out with him?
@stanphillips7277
@stanphillips7277 Жыл бұрын
@@3jesus3christ3 You can't be anything else except yourself. Nobody else can do that for you. This clip is not necessarily profound but, Kurt was as deep; as _profound_ a thinker as anyone when you look at the whole of his thinking, not a 30 second clip of an interview that provides no insight outside of what little bit is contained in the clip right? Based on this, maybe he's just average in his thinking. Looking at the music, other interviews, and everything he did; in my opinion he was a deep thinker, a profound thinker. Henry Miller, the author (Tropic of Capricorn) once said "Nothing is right or wrong but thinking makes it so" My _thinking_ is just that, my opinion. Opinions are debatable and impossible to prove. It's subjective, the eye (ear) of the beholder. In this clip does he display his most profound thinking ? No way! The sum of the parts are greater than the whole, and in looking at the whole of Kurt's thinking; as much as we can based on the music and, other interviews I'm saying he was an above average and a deep thinker. A profound thinker.✌️♥️🎸🎶🙏
@tomtacular
@tomtacular Жыл бұрын
No he wasn't profound. He was articulate which makes him a better than average thinker.
@stanphillips7277
@stanphillips7277 Жыл бұрын
@@tomtacular Kurt's wrote some of the most profound lyrics ever . He was articulate sure. Intelligent, absolutely. Does it take a profound mind to write the lyrics to all of those Nirvana songs...I'm saying absolutely yes! He may be just "Articulate" in this tiny sound bite but, the sum of all the parts that are archived in the music of Nirvana is proof positive enough for me to say again... Kurt was a profound thinker. It's my subjective opinion. You're entitled to believe what you'd like but, if you're not familiar with the songs you're opinion is one of contempt prior to investigation. If you don't consider the songs ; those lyrics, you can't really speak to whether or not Kurt was a deep thinker. A profound thinker. His singing is notoriously inarticulate but, so maybe he's articulate when he speaks but, it's his lyrics; the "whole" of the man if you will, that makes him a profound thinker. It's my humble opinion and, nothing more. It's subjective when we speak of the arts anyway. The eye (or ear) of the beholder right? So if you don't think his lyrics are profound, if you've listened and decided than we can agree to disagree but, I'm considering multiple things. The music, a couple of documentaries, multiple interviews and most of all the music and, not 20 seconds of Kurt talking about the Seattle scene. Alright, later Thomas ✌️❤️🎸🎶🤘🙏

It’s a positive feedback loop. Once one promising act is found, it attracts more A&R people. Bands cross-pollinate and influence each other as always. They perhaps take notice and take more chances or maybe put more effort into shaping their act for a bigger audience leading to more bands being discovered, more funding for recording, tours and equipment, better and bigger output and so on. It’s more like an opportunistic infection than something divinely special. It’s temporarily special before it dies out and some other place becomes special lol.

He’s right. “Grunge” was just a name that was deemed by the media ultimately. They were guys from an area that were made popular by by that area simply because a lot of bands were up-and-coming IN THAT AREA. It wasn’t a specific type of music at all. They were influenced by everything from Acid rock- to Punk- to metal- to classic rock, and Layne Staleys favorite musician was friggin Prince…. They got labeled as “Grunge” because their record labels saw it as profitable towards the mid 90’s to do so, and MTV and VH1 made it a reality to the world. They were just talented rock musicians. If you wanna call them “alternative” then you’re still doing them a disservice, when AIC came in and knocked every thrash metal band off the charts by ‘94 and made them like it enough to accept a tour with them, because AIC was awesome and no band, even Metallica, could resist the offer.

Very respectfully disagree with Kurt on this one. I think scenes can be important and great. Especially if your from places that haven't really had many big breakout artists. A scene encompasses the cool unique local culture, the diverse independent venues, the faces and characters you see at those venues influencing each other and interacting with regularly (if you are a regular gig attendee). Where I'm from there's some great clubs and bars and you'll meet the most fantastic people you wouldn't meet anywhere else. Many of the venues where I'm from have been closed lately by greedy landlords. Scenes are worth protecting in this regard. It's good to be able to band together.

I heard major bands would skip the PNW cause it was too isolated. Which gave rise to Grunge! A pocketed style of music.

Community patriotism is the live blood of a lot of genres. It's an essential part of culture (especially locally), that gives rise to many genre bending bands.

Never heard Kurt speak of Hendrix, but I like to hear him give respects to those that deserve it... As far as scenes go though, Hendrix was a musician around Tennessee and New York then he went to England and made it big and became worldwide legend.. he wasn't really part of Seattle music scene to my knowledge, he in fact hated Seattle.

@@Spencer.Stratos oh ok gotcha. I took it as Kurt meaning they're on the map musically by simply having Hendrix being born there. I do disagree with him tho in that scenes are more about community and culture more than anything else and if bands are being produced from them then yes that's a really great scene to be a part of.

Kurt seems like the guy everyone wants to be friends with but he hated fakeness , so he has a tight knit group that you yearned to be part of because hes so charismatic.

I've never heard Kurt speak before. No doubt he was smart, well spoken and humble. I just realized that I like him. Shame there's no time machine to go to him and tell him what is around the corner. That he must stop !!! I lost my brother the same way. Many dreams of him still here and I violently shake him telling him that he's going to die and he starts laughing and slowly fades away. Very disturbing.
