@@BrattScorsa You're full of shite. The guy was fat, not stupid. It looks like he was looking for the plug wire. However, he was VERY obtrusive and lacked elegance in his performance, which is probably a giant crooked note in a job like that. Great comment. Thanks man. Very interesting. Let’s say hypothetically that Kurt didn’t die and Nirvana didn’t break up…. 1. Do you think Pat would’ve eventually been a full member and been on the next record? 2. Is the next album the REM style thing he hinted at, or a more abrasive record more in the style they were headed? 3. Do you think “You Know You’re Right”, “Do Re Mi” and what people refer to as “Ivy League” end up on the next record? Maybe even “Talk to Me” (I know it was a older song, but “Dumb” was many years old before it was put on In Utero (I believe “RFUS”, “All Apologies”, and “Pennyroyal Tea” were older songs as well, right?)
@michaelflanders2876
@michaelflanders2876 2 ай бұрын
@@Tyrannosaurine I actually would have hoped "If you Must", "Curmudgeon", and "Pen Cap Chew", would have made it on an album with "Talk to me", and "You know you're right". "IV League" did not sound like a fully fleshed out song. It sounded much like the jam session "Galleons of rubbing alcohol roll through the strip" as opposed to a fleshed out song. As for "Do Re Mi", I don't think kurt ever wanted anyone to hear that. I think it was him playing around in his bedroom and making something that sounded beautiful to him. Also, there is a part in Do Re Mi where Kurt plays the scale from "The man who sold the world" in reverse. This similarity I think would have prevented him from ever really publishing the song or working on it further. If only the dummy had stayed in the friggen rehab facility until his mind cleared up. We would have had so much more incredible music.

@@michaelflanders2876as much as its easy to feel the way you do, the more interviews I read about it all the more apparent it seems the real damage was first done when he overdosed in Rome. Dave, Krist and a couple others said that after the Rome incident, Kurt was different. Like his personality was moving through quicksand, and he withdrew from everyone close even harder in the end. I think he gave himself brain damage in Rome (or whatever Courtney L did to revive him did), he lived through it for the few weeks since Rome and after rehab didnt seem helpful for it decided he wasn't sticking around to figure it out. Fucking sad.

Even after they got big and could financially afford almost anything when it came to their live gear, I can't believe Kurt never made the switch over to using wireless guitar packs lol. I can understand being a purist and sticking with a direct cable setup, but for scenarios like this, wireless packs make it so much easier. You just hand them the guitar and turn the volume up right away while not worrying about plugging in. I see big John handed him a fender jag-stang that Kurt designed. He only got to play a few shows with that model before he passed away.

I think being Kurt's guitar technician is complex, in every aspect, but they both don't take into account that since he's left-handed, they should pass him the guitar from the other side and they would save more seconds until they plug it in as well. I'm also left-handed and when I'm lucky enough to be on bigger stages, in case I change my guitar, I tell them to start from my left even if they have to cross the entire stage.

Thank you very much for sharing your experience with us, and of course, being the technician of a left-handed guitarist is probably a little more difficult until you get used to it.

I love that Kurt starts in bloom in a different key because his guitar was in a different tuning and then he rises out of the key into the original one when he gets the guitar in the correct tuning.

As a guitar tech for a very looooooong time I must say neither one knows how to pass a guitar off properly. There actually is a correct way.

@@NewGoldStandard hard to explain but I'll try. The tech has the strap in his left hand and guitar in his right. Holding the strap basically in a playing position. The guitarist puts the other guitar in the techs left hand as he slips his arm and head under the strap. Make sense?
