I'm a white belt who currently gets smashed alot in side control. I saw this move/vid about a week ago. I almost caught a blue belt with it a few nights back. I forgot to grab the triangled arm and then hug the body which gave him time to defend but this move def surprised him and forced him to suddenly defend instead of attack. When the round finished he was like "WTF did that come from?!?" Yesterday, I sub'd another white belt with it easily. From a noobie like me, it's DEF a move worth adding to your repertoire! Thanks Kurt!!!

i guess the moral of the story is that you can still attack from anywhere

+Rod Zilla Great work. you could have pressured the blue into an arm lock. Gotta imagine that it will be harder to finish a triangle on the higher levels but let him worry about the triangle while you get the arm into position for an arm bar or kimura.

+Dominic Lobban not anywhere. There are very few in Mount attacks and i doubt there are any attacks while someone has control of your back. maybe though... probably more of a setup.

if a guy has your back but has his feet crossed there's a footlock and i saw a guy get a kimura while someone had his back in an mma fight, video should be on a top X submission list somewhere

I watched this tutorial a few months back and about 2 weeks later I found myself applying it without thinking. This is a testament to how clear and concise your videos are, Kurt. A huge thank you.

It should be emphasized very much that grabbing the sleeve is not always easy. Kurt is extremely high level, but most people will have trouble getting away with this move. Half the time I do this I end up just squeezing their head because I can't pull the arm over effectively. MAKE SURE you grab the sleeve and pull the arm over before they realize what you're trying to do. It will GREATLY help you finish this. It's not as easy as it looks due to how awkward the angle is.

That's the point of going to the kimura or armbar on the opponent's free arm. :-) Personally, I find you get better leverage with the kimura
@johnrubano9950
@johnrubano9950 10 жыл бұрын
Plus this is only drilling. They guy is not resisting at all making the sleeve grab easy. Osiander is a super high level jits guy but this is clearly only a demonstration! The element of suprise is always paramount in jiu jitsu. Regardless, it seems much easier to attack the other arm and keep the head locked to control the opponant.

Using this concept, snagged multiple submissions. When opponent would try to pass my guard, wound spin my head down throwing leg over catching inverted triangle. Bear hug to finish as Kurt shows. Good to know how to finish the inverted triangle if you catch it.

Leche Films not everyone has long legs and some opponents have wide bodies. You have to work with what you have. As he pointed out he was saying you can also use it as a chain. So it is quality instruction.

It’s a basic yoko shijo gatame scape, but way more difficult when applied as mune gatame scape as demonstrated here by the professor.. someway somehow you need to reverse mune into yoko shijo by pulling uki’s arm between your legs..

Always liked this series. Saw it from Mike Fowler, who set it up from guard to inverted triangle. Seems a little more doable from this spot though. Yo Kurt, you named the brand of gi, but you don't have a link for it or anything. Like the moves and the gi. Where can a guy get one?

Nice option for keeping your opponent guessing. No single move on it's own is going to work against a really good opponent. But if your chaining escapes together plus your opponent has to worry about actually getting submitted from this position? Sure, maybe you won't land the sub but you'll at least rattle your opponent enough to open up an escape or reversal right? Now go train! Kurt is the shit! I'd love to train with that guy.

Yeah, and I´m not even an americana kind of guy, but in that position it almost always works
@kholl9
@kholl9 9 жыл бұрын
Cuythulu 100% agree. Though, sometimes he hides his arm and you cannot get the Americana. I then pry out the arm for a straight arm lock. If he is any good, he will not tap from this but he has to address it and that allows you to get the Americana. If you do go for the kimura and they step over, push him all the way over so your head pops out the other side. Put your near arm over his back, sit up for the tap. Tons of pressure...

Once again for the stupid people: grab the arm! I often miss it and try anyway. Up to yesterday this worked with some adjustment. If the opponent left some room I used to change sides below his belly and apply pressure and torsion. So, if you have long legs some times you touch the ground with one foot. Well, yesterday my oponent used this to push his weight forward and to "calf slice" (I think it's called) me with my own shin. I had to laugh and to scream at the same time ;-)
