Fifteen blissful minutes of watching Finster in all her feline grace and beauty... oh and I think Dave was talking in the background about something.

The remarkable thing about all these Weill recordings, in all their diversity, is the remarkably high quality of so many of them. Weill brings out the best in a lot of musicians.

That first Stratas Weill disc was such a revelation (and for many months an obsession). Seemed a match-up of perfect voice with perfect repertoire, or more precisely, the perfect repertoire for Stratas's voice at that particular later stage of her career--a slight fragility adding enormous poignance to certain songs, an edgy quality to others. The combination, for me, has never really been beat. I've got to pull that out again!

David! Thanks for all of your informative presentations. I have a suggestion concerning the 'gap' in your CD stacking: take an empty CD case from such sources as PC magazine cover disks and fill the gap with that. I myself have accumulated lots of them over the years because the contents of the discs were obsolete.

LOL. Finster was delightful. How come we never see your other kitty, Dave?

I recall listening as a kid (courtesy of my German grandmother's record collection) to the original recording of "Die Dreigroschenoper" on ancient Telefunken discs. Scratchy old sound but so entertaining with those catchy tunes! Never thought I'd see them re-issued on compact disc.

While I've always had great respect for Weill, mostly through his compositions for musical theatre, I never realized how prolific he was. BTW, the "Lady In The Dark" recording you showed is the best of alll versions out there.

I have those two Cappricio 5-CD boxes. They contain exclusively Latham Koenig's recordings so "The Protagonist" is not in them but most of the discs you zipped through at the end are.

The recording of One Touch of Venus with Melissa Errico is one of my favorite recordings of all time. I know you didn’t bring it up, but I had to say something.

My favorite recording of Dreigroschenoper remains the Broadway recording of the Blitzstein version with Lotte Lenya, Bea Arthur, and John Astin, among others.

That ‘Street Scene’ CD with the ENO features a very young Catherine Zeta Jones singing ‘Moon Faced, Starry Eyed’

I have that Vox Box "Berlin Project". It was a nice affordable way to Weill's major works.

Your cat is hilarious !!!! Hope kitty never changes. Have that Teresa Stratas Nonesuch album you showed in my collection. Got it for Buddy On The Night Shift. An all night classical music station use to use it for a while as its theme when it came on at midnight. Schicklgruber is pretty funny also. And if no one ever noticed, Bobby Darin in his recording of Mack The Knife mentions Lotte Lenya (Kurt Weill's wife) in the lyrics. For the Dreigroschenmusik, there's no better performance than the one did by members of The Boston Symphony on RCA/BMG. THANKS DAVE !!!

There will soon be calls for you to upload a video of your cat playing a piano, she looks more than capable - maybe you could do a world first piano and tam tam sonata? Oh and yes I was listening to your Kurt Weill talk!

If you don't get Finster some sort of climbing and hovering apparatus before you fill those shelves, mayhem may ensue.

I was wondering if and when you would get to 'Down in the Valley.' A long time ago, I had a version on a 10 inch LP. Can't remember who did it. (Still hoping to get a peek at the other cat.)
