Actually no. He knew what Dharma and adharma are. But he didnt side with dharma. Krishna once said to Karna Dhuryodhana is acting evil not bcz he is powerful but the ppl by his side like Karna,Dhrona,Bheeshma and Sakuni are powerful. He also didnt say anything when Dhraopadhi was insulted. Had he said I wont support you if you do this Dhuryodhana would have stopped. Like Krishna said you shouldnt stand by your words when the whole world is on fire. In this case he is just like Bheeshma who didnt speak up bcz of his promise. I love Karna but he was powerful and able enough to stop the evil but didnt. So no he is not the one that followed dharma. Even dharma didnt follow dharma when he played by betting his wife.
