I got Payback on release and after over 150 hours I gotta say I fucking love it. The only genuinely horrible thing about it was the speed cards.

Tbh it's a pain in the first playthrough but after that you have the lvl 16 cards, you just have to take some time to spin the correct combinations, that's why I always drive directly to the tune shop and after that I rice the car, it's more satisfying and less of a headache that you wasted 15min spinning cards

I would give a solid 8/10 if they removed gambling as a form of upgrade, just let us buy cards and pay with the special money the advantages the card have

For me it's wasted potential. I love the map. But there's some empty places, some places you would never enter if you would follow only campaign... that's sad. There should be also more races in the city. This game is good, but too short and without content. I'd like to see another game in Fortune Valley, maybe with more open terrain.

i love payback more than heat. 1. story progression racing and beating crews more fun than grind reputation in heat. 2. racing are more variety and fun in payback than heat, heat only nighttime race fun but cannot grind money and force you to race boring close race to grind money in daytime. 3. i love payback cinematic takedowns and no healthbar which mean i car fight the cops. 4. map in payback is huge, with variety location(mountains forest, canyon, huge city, desert) and more alive( human pedestrian, IA racer roaming the street and more cars on roads, parking side street and etc than heat empty map. 5. Soundtrack in payback is a lot and much better than heat small soundtrack. 6. natural real day and night cycle in payback The only bad about payback is the card performance upgrade, i think they try to used the themes gambling themes since the game location setting but also try to gain lootbox money.(i dont use it at all) playtime in payback is 90hr+ single player only complete story but not 100% complete, heat playtime only 15-20hrs complete the story and nearly 100%( including mp)

I actually haven't been invested into the new NFS game as much as I was into Payback. I was hyped for it even though 2015 let me down so hard, got it after like 3 months after release and then I spent like 5 hours playing the game each Friday and beat it in a month. Usually I don't play games for so much time at once and this really got me hooked. The atmosphere, a lot of exploring for the Delericts and even most of the soundtrack gave me good vibes. I also liked the bonuses from getting certain set of upgrades from one brand. Heck, I even did most of the events like jumps and speedtraps on 3 stars. I've never been a completionist but this time I had so much fun that I did it

For me Payback feels more polished than Heat. It only misses proper cop chases, better upgrade system and sync in MP. Handling works better in Payback imo, at least it works as it is supposed to, not like in Heat. Better story, progression, multiplayer. I spent more time in this game than Heat.

@@H3llfire320 It's your personal opinion, but I wouldn't disagree more with you (okay, I wouldn't say a thing if you'd have said that about some other NFS title from that era). We're talking about the game with fuckin control delay (I mean why would you do that for a game with arcade driving style), with nothing really interesting at all (it's just a freaking cash grab that parasited on an iconic title) , with truly awful driving model (played that thing for 10 minutes, uninstalled it just because of this), with almost non-existent customization. I mean I can say that Payback was (not only subjectively) so much better in comparison with that thing. If you think I'm something like a fanboy of that game, then I gotta say that my favourite NFS is NFS 5 (Porsche 2000/Unleashed) and even that (by no means perfect game with outdated/nostalgic graphics) is something that's much better than a freakin' cash grab MW 2012.
