So I never comment, but like to mention that the light design is sweet, but the wiring is a disaster. Drilling 2 holes isn’t going to kill anybody and adding a quick disconnect would make this install and capability to be removed and reattached much easier. Just route the wire near the forward mounted hinge with to anchor tie downs on either side with a “small” amount of slack would make this much neater.

I was just looking at this thinking the same thing. Just purchased it and going to drill the holes and already have the quick disconnect. Glad to see I'm not the only one thinking like this...

@@johnnykosek1211 What quick disconnect are you using? It would be nice to have a weather plug on the bike side for when you are not using the tourpack
@jay08635 жыл бұрын
The manufacturer should have made a break in the cable for a quick disconnect. So you can drill a hole thru the lid and you wouldn't have any cable management issues. Also the quick disconnect would be good if you decide to ride without your tour pack.

Jay08 yea that would have been a good idea.

De pin instead of cutting wire

Just bought it for my after market tour pak. Fit perfect. Bright too. But the hanging wires are just not going to cut it. So I’m going to drill a hole and run the wires through a grommet into the box and another hole/grommet at bottom to exit. I’ll seal the grommets from the inside. Only takes a couple minutes to remove seat to attach to the connector. I’m also buying a LED R/B/turn signal strip for back side of TP and tie into this wiring on inside. Good video. Good product but not the suggested install.

58rider I thought about doing the same. Awesome! I only put the light on my King pack. So it’s rarely used. But I may still do the same.

Can this wire be cut and splice back together? To drill a hole and run out the bottom of the tour pack.
@sonboogie3 жыл бұрын
Maybe run that wire closer to the hinge side of the pack to minimize slack needed.

I'm seriously on the fence about getting this for my AB King tour pack. I think I might have to modify it to make a quick release connector so I won't have to take the seat off if I decide to without the tour pack.

Joseph Murray yea it’s great! I don’t mind taking the seat off to disconnect the harness but a QD would be better.

I bought this light and I'm trying to wire it to a different motorcycle, my question is what is the red/yellow wire for on the Y splice because on the light assembly connector is not there. Thanks
@87dodgetim2 жыл бұрын
Dude why did'nt you hide the wire!!!!
@harlanstocks35143 жыл бұрын
If you would have put your wire sticky backs as close to the hinge point as you can. you wouldn't have to manage as much cable moving when you open and close the lid. I thought you where going to get it when you placed the one sticky back over there but then you went to the other side of the pack with the next one. You could have put it right above then your managing 6" of movement instead of a foot.

Really should have ran the wire to the corner. Wouldn’t have needed so much slack since you’d be closer to the pivoting point.. Thanks for the video tho.

Personally I think the concept of the light is a good idea. The design & development of it sucks. It looks like ass with wires running all over. And eventually that wire is going to rub through when ran underneath the seat. Kuryakyn should've done way more R&D on this if there is any to do. And as far as the flat black...what a stupid idea. Wtf are they smokin' at Kuryakyn? Maybe that's why they had to file for bankruptcy in 2017...cuz they are out of touch with reality.
