In this video I talk about the different types of Kutzall grinding and shaping wheels I use for shaping and carving wood.

Thanks for the detailed information on the kutzall dish and disc. I've had the same question about which one to buy due to a limited budget and couldn't find any useful information anywhere else until I came across your video. Thanks once again.

I’m about to tackle my first sculpted chair project. With a variable speed grinder, what rpm setting do you find works best for material removal from the seat and for fairing the joint transitions? I find your videos to be wonderful confidence-building tools. And your designs are inspiring.

I am so sorry i missed this comment....I actually just have a single speed. I thinks its 5000 rpm. How did it work?

My grinder is 8500 rpm, sorry

Any reason you don't use two battery grinders instead of 1 and 1 corded?

which one of these is the safest for a beginner? I have been reading alot and am a little scared haha

Do the Kutzall discs fit a contour grinder by Arbortech? I'm new to this world, but going to purchase soon.

Wicked vid thanks

Do you feel they'd fit any angle grinder? Their website says they're compatible with most standard angle grinders but their own compatibility list only includes die grinders (which I'm concerned about the safety of, due to how you have to hold them and the lack of two hand control) I don't own an angle grinder yet so I'd be buying both pieces and obviously want to get a grinder they actually work with

Hey man great video, would you recommend using one of This disc to cope baseboard? Or crown molding?
@GaraWoodWoodworking3 жыл бұрын
If you are really steady, yes. I have done it. Just have to be super careful

@@GaraWoodWoodworking thank you so much for taking the time to reply man! I appreciate it! And I’ll be careful, i respect every tool! Another question, which one of the disc you talk about would you recommend I get for coping?
@GaraWoodWoodworking3 жыл бұрын
@@nne3928 I used an original coating (least aggressive) and the disc shape because it can cut smaller shapes. Kutzall has a 20% off sale right now if you check their website www.kutzall.com

@@GaraWoodWoodworking Thank you forthe video. Can I skip the middle coarse disk and use the original extreme with original smooth only?
@jensdavidsen45573 жыл бұрын
You're lucky! My Kutzall Extreme extra coarse was done in one use. I got a minor catch and it torqued so hard onto my angle grinder that I ended up destroying the F###ing thing trying to get it off my grinder...there goes $65
@GaraWoodWoodworking3 жыл бұрын
Oh no....So the wheel was destroyed when you tried to remove it?
@jensdavidsen45573 жыл бұрын
@@GaraWoodWoodworking I tried everything I could think of to get it off without wrecking it. Finally, in order to not resort to sending my angle grinder back to the manufacturer to be serviced, I had to clamp the disc in my vice and use a hammer and punch to knock the locking nut free...which took substantial hammering. Finally got it...but there goes $65...not happy about that at all.

Mate does the grinder output power (W) need to be a certain wattage for better performance? what's the power of your grinders please

So sorry I missed this comment - I use my 8500 rpm grinder with a 5 amp grinder
@SomeDudeOnline Жыл бұрын
Is there a steep learning curve? I've never used an angle grinder before today (I slapped on a 36 grit flap disc and decided that it was a bit slow and wouldn't last the entire project). Based on this video and others, I'm thinking I want the Extreme for my project but I'm also concerned that if it bites on me it'll be a "oops, there goes my project" moment.
@GaraWoodWoodworking Жыл бұрын
Out of all shaping wheels I have used, this is the easiest. Its doesnt grab the wood like other wheels. I find all coatings work very similarly. Extreme isnt a lot harder to use
@SomeDudeOnline Жыл бұрын
@@GaraWoodWoodworking Thanks! I was actually a bit impatient and ended up getting the regular course (I think that's what it's called). It removes material perfectly for my case but it was so smooth and easy that I wouldn't be concerned at all about moving up to extreme.
