Kuvalo Bafat Recipe | Ash Gourd Bafat | Bafat Recipe | Easy & Simple Kuvalo Bafat Mangalorean Style
Kuvalo Bafat is prepared by using Coconut milk long procedure but very tasty, delicious and light on stomach.
Ingredients :
Ash Gourd - 1 1/2kg
Onion - 4 medium size
Garlic - 2 pods
Green Chillies - 7-8
Cloves - 5 - 6
Pepper - 2 tsp
Musturd seeds - 2 tsp
Coriander seeds - 5 tbsp
Cumin seeds - 2 tsp
Bay Leaves- 4-5
Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
Salt as per taste
Sugar - 2 tsp
Vinegar - 2 tbsp
Thick coconut milk
Thin coconut milk
Oil

Just made one a few min. ago. Boiled Kuvalo 75% with onions, garlic, ginger, green chillies, bay leaves, turmeric and salt. Strained water and kept aside. For masala added methi, whole pepper corns, coriander and cumin seeds with a little vinegar plus half coconut milk. Cooked masala separately in a little coconut oil. Added remaining coconut milk to it and cooked a little more. Then added the boiled kuvalo to it. Adjusted liquid and salt as desired. Liquid was from some of the juice that i had strained from boiled kuvalo that I had left aside. Came out delicious.
