The auger-type juicer machines are much tougher as far as grinding anything is concerned: dates, figs, raw or cooked apples, cooked beans, cooked rice, anything reasonably soft, ie, the auger type machines double as food processors and for the same cost or less. Not so for the kuvings 830: it is a delicate baby and there are so many restrictions, don't do this, don't do that...I am sorry I spent so much money. I was happier with my single auger juicer but it was real old and I gave it away, thinking that the kuvings would be just as useful as a grinder of soft foods. What a disappointment. And there are so many parts to clean!

Whats the function of that spining "thing" inside the juicer? Not the screw, the one in the bottom?

That's a wiping blade. It's function is to remove residue from the screen while it's juicing. It helps prevent clogging. There are some silicone "flaps" on the inside of the mechanism that rests against the screen and so wipes as it spins.
