@@veellseamus399 You can see it in Kuvira's actions and tone. She sounds somewhat saddened to lose Batar. When they hug, she closes her eyes on his shoulders, which is cinema shorthand for saying she wasn't thinking of some secret plot against him. The opposite would be if she opened her eyes and looked off-camera in a sly way. But I get the confusion. They use a lot of subtle hints to show Kuvira's feelings and priorities, and not everyone knows enough about TV language to get the hints. Kuvira clearly looked hurt. Some people don't need to cry to show pain, she is in the middle of a battle, it's like Zaheer, he didn't have a moment to mourn Pl'i. In the comics she states that she clearly loved him. That's a gambit in chess: a sacrifice to obtain a victory, usually, the king. Kuvira's Gambit. She sacrificed Baatar and her happinnes for the empire, let's remember that all villians in the Avatar Universe are complex and people in the core.

Tbh I don’t mind, sure it’s really annoying having all powerful female characters with no depth and no feelings, but I don’t believe that’s why they chose to have Kuvira be stone cold. Avatar and Legend of Korra are known for having really well written female characters. It’s been established that above everything else, Kuvira wants to achieve her goal of uniting the earth empire, and she isn’t phased by killing innocent people or really anyone. She’s the type of person who is manipulative and cold but not for no good reason, so I think it’s very in character that she didn’t even shed a tear

To be honest I really do think Kuivira lover Battaar but the fact is that if you read the comics you'll see that she was abandoned by her parents and in the moments where she had a argument with Suyin about helping the rest of the earth kingdom which is what led her to running off in that moment where she was conversating with Battaar she completely threw the fact away that she left to help the Earth kingdom and instead let that so call responsibility get to her head
@cmorr20102 жыл бұрын
So we learn in the comics that Kuvira was raised with the Bei Fong family in Zao Fu as a daughter. Which makes Batar Jr's obsession with her SO creepy! I think Kuvira has some attachment disorder that makes her not feel bonded with anyone, and her closeness with a similar aged person who is interested in her could be the closest she felt to love. I'd love to see your reaction to the comic series about Kuvira!

@TheLastSane13 жыл бұрын
Well its more weird when you learn that Kuvira was raised with Suyin's other children. Suyin basically adopted an orphan Earthbender but Opal and the others never really accepted her as part of the family and so she grew more and more distant from them. Bataar Jr was the only one she got close with and that was as adults so I can see it being very easy to put aside those emotions by pushing them behind all the angst and hurt of being rejected by the Beifong family. I know in the comics she actually does speak with him and says she is sorry for her actions and expresses how hurt she was being rejected and how it all started out with her trying to make Suyin proud of her, but then warped into wanting to be better than the others and eventually she got narrow focused on what she wanted and not what was right or wrong. Its actually really good storytelling.

Also I definitely think Kuvira loved Bataar but she's determined to see the Earth Empire united because she thinks that's the only thing that'll make people happy permanently. She's already sacrificed her hometown and the people who raised her for the sake of her goals. If she can sacrifice the man she loves and kill the Avatar and her gang in return it's definitely something she'd do.

@@bansheeuwuuwu2872 I meant they both look like silver. Megatron isn't actually made of silver, his metal just looks that way. Same goes for Kuvira's MECH.

10:13 Well if you're trying to capture civilians rather than genocide them you'll want smaller mechs and regular infantry. Trying to take someone prisoner with that thing would be like picking ants off the ground without killing them.

Hey there! I have finally caught up with the series that you guys have made, and I just wanted to say that, I'm glad that I found this channel, your dynamic is amazing, the way Montana anylases the characters is absolutely beautiful, it's really fun seeing you react to Legend of Korra for the first time, discovering things, and overall having a fun time! I'll miss the series once it's over, but it was fun when it happened, and I'm excited for the other shows y'all are reacting to as well!

I have watched all of the seasons and I just noticed something; at 2:30 Bataar Jr. said "I love you" but Kuvira didn't say it back. Yeah, she said "after this we can go home and get married" but it seems more like she's saying it to reassure him that it's still gonna happen more so than saying it out of excitement. I could be over thinking it but it's just a very interesting detail in dialogue.

Some people often criticize the mech and say it doesn't make sense strategically, but it's actually quite the opposite. If the cannon had been mounted on a tank, the tank would be weighed down by the massive turret, require at least twenty metalbenders to rotate it, and making turns around corners in tight, urban terrain would be impossible. An airship? Literally would've been the worst option as he recoil would've sent the airship flying around like a rag doll. The mech solves all of these problems and cannot get buried by Earthbenders opening up a massive hole beneath it.
