i think i just realized the actual reason that Toph left Republic City. Growing up she resented that her parents never gave her an ounce of actual freedom and vowed that as a parent herself that she would allow he kids to be free to make their own decisions. That's the major flaw because that vow made it so she would never praise or discipline either or her children. Lin chose to seek out that by following what Toph did and Suyin chose to exploit that by doing her own thing. However, when their lifestyles came to a head like we saw in the previous episodes, Toph had to step in and make a decision and chose to cover it up and told Lin what to do. She, in that moment had to become a little like her own parents and she hated it. Lin said that Toph left because she was ashamed of the cover up, but I think she was ashamed of the broken vow. She left because she felt that was the only way that her children would be able to live their lives with actual freedom, because she realized that what being a parent actually meant.

Kuvira vs Suyin is THE best close quarter combat battle in Avatar. The choreography, the moves, the use of metalbending. A+ on all of it. Is there any fight that comes close? My mind goes blank whenever I see this fight xD Some of Ming-Hua's fights are also amazing, but this one is just on another level. Also Toph, hi Toph. Korra is weird because they don't really know what to do with the old cast, do they include them, do they ignore them, there's complaining on both sides. Toph could just stomp Kuvira's plans, but she doesn't feel like it. They made Toph too cool and too powerful xD

There are multiple fights that either outclass this one or rival it. The final agni kai, and Aang vs Ozai definitely outclass this fight, so does Korra and Wan vs Vaatu and Korra vs Unavaatu. Fights that rival the Suyin vs Kuvira one are Tenzin vs Zaheer, Mako and Bolin vs Unalaq, Tonraq vs Unalaq, and every fight between pre-redeemed Zuko and Aang.

Nah, no shot Toph stomps Kuvira. Younger Toph sure, sure, but old Toph not a chance. The ease and speed with which Kuvira moves and acts and the complete calmness when she fights easily makes her capable of fighting Toph. Toph is a beast, but look at the speed at which Kuvira dealt with the bandits, how she barely broke out a sweat against Su and how she was on par with a recovered Korra. Y'all are sleeping on Kuvira.

@@controlman7490 I mean close quarter fights, where it's more about choreography. The Agni Kai, AangVOzai, Wan's fight and ZaheerVKorra are all fantastic fights but are more about raw power. The Zaheer fight had some really amazing camera movements. TenzinVZaheer and TonraqVUnalaq are more what I was thinking. Another example of what I have in mind might be the hallway fight when they're saving Kai and ZaheerVKya. I feel really bad, but after seeing KuviraVSu all the fights in ATLA feel slower and less detailed. But that's just because Korra was created later and animation technology advanced.

@@4Tom4lepus4 That's a good point. I'm just looking at Toph singlehanded knocking out Kuvira's platoon and thinking "she could be quite helpful knowing what happens next". I guess I didn't mean she could fight Kuvira 1:1, I wanted to say she could stomp her plans. If she can knock out an entire platoon (but still controlled enough to not hit her family) she could have buried the cannon. But yeah no, Kuvira is one of the best fighters in Avatar. Her skill is one par with the best of them (and using metal to grapple&blind opponents is an ace in the hole). I will always say that in battle speed is better than strength and Kuvira has S rank speed.

YAAAASSS ONE OF MY FAV EPS!! Beifong's go hard af, the fight was just 😘👌👌 pure epicness!! The Suyin v. Kuvira sequence is always amazing to watch. It goes so smooth and fast! Every time I see Suyin flip around I'm always reminded that she was part of a circus in her youth with those acrobatics 🤩 As for comics. It's been a long time since I looked into the info on them. I think there's a point where Toph meets Kanto in the comics shortly after season 3. It was either him or her second husband...of who I cant remember the name right now. All I remember was they were really hitting it off and it freaked Sokka out lmao The Suki/Zuko thing...no idea. I know she became his bodyguard for a bit. Also right after season three. He was having problems with being a brand new firelord...I think he also fainted at some point for being right about something? 🤔 But that's just random pages I've seen off google, the only comics I went out the way to buy and read was The Search, where Zuko finds his mom 🤷‍♀️

Suyin x Kuvira is the best fight in the franchise for me, pure 🔥🔥 And just an opinion on the other Avatar content, I like the comics and always recommend fans to read it, but although they touch on some nice topics and themes, they are in general, more childish and doesn't hit the same for me. But the novels on the other hand are really good, the format fits so well in the Avatar world, the worldbuilding the author is able to do is amazing, one of the best contents we got, I love them probably as much as the shows, every fan should read them. There are two about Kyoshi and one about Yangchen, with the second one to come.

About Lins dad, so yeah some random dude named kanto, not really relevent however the real mystery is whos Su's dad. Not once did they say his name, most people believe its sokka cos Suki died. After all, Toph did have a bit of a crush with sokka, remember the serpants pass? "Oh sokka, you really do care *kisses suki thinking it was Sokka*" Also yeah, toph wasnt exactly the best mum, I think the reason why is cos shes always struggled with true feelings and socializing with others. Well, Sokka could still be Su Yin's dad, cause Lin and her are half-sisters. I mean she does have darker skin than Lin, some people have pointed out that it may even be the same shade.
