Kuwait Building Fire: 40 Indians Dead, PM Modi Condoles Deaths In Kuwait Building Blaze

At least 40 Indians were among the 41 killed on Wednesday in a major fire at a building in Kuwait housing workers. The building, located in the Mangaf area in Kuwait’s southern Ahmadi Governorate, was housing over 160 workers. The fire started in a kitchen in the six-story building. The country’s deputy prime minister Sheikh Fahad Yusuf Saud Al-Sabah visited the site and confirmed that at least 41 workers were killed.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also extended condolences to the families of the deceased and prayed for the quick recovery of those injured. The External Affairs Ministry said that Prime Minister Modi directed Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh to travel to Kuwait to oversee assistance to those injured in the fire tragedy and to coordinate with local authorities for early repatriation of mortal remains of those dead in the fire

We r currently in Saudi Arabia. Experienced low paid workers get 1500 riyals = rs 44000.00 . Live in cramped and dirty rooms, hardly take bath , work for 16 hrs . This is the reason die to corruption and very less opportunities in our country for jobs

Most buildings in Middle East countries have fire alarms, fire extinguishers and cameras plus they also have security guards. One must ascertain if the building had all these in place. The owner of the company becomes responsible if he did not ensure that the building had these facilities to ensure the safety and security of his employees. Indians can't own buildings; they can only rent or lease them from out from the Arab owners. 160 works in a building with six floors is not a big number to say they were all cramped up. This is not a time to bring up general issues faced blue-collar workers in different Gulf countries. Please stick to this case and provide relevant details pertaining to this specific incident. Update the family members who are concerned about their relatives. Is the Indian government assisting the Kuwait government to see if there was any foul play giving the crucial period in which these incidents have transpired? Condolences are of no use. Take immediate action to mitigate future such incidents.

In this case the judgement of the "greed" of owners, labelling of Keralites, Malayalees etc suddenly crops up! Some Indian employees have lost their lives, and we don't know the indoor ambient temperatures could be in Kuwait! Perhaps we could ask for the opinion of the employment agencies, through whom these simple staffers found employment! Who seem to be have been earning well!
