"Kuweni the Musical," composed by Charitha Attalage, features a modern Sri Lankan orchestra created as a platform for showcasing the talents of diverse artists in Sri Lanka. Collaborating with the internationally renowned Visual Arts and Experiences Group (VAEG), the production employs powerful visuals and sophisticated lighting techniques to craft an immersive cinematic storytelling experience.
Kuweni symbolizes Sri Lanka's intangible cultural heritage. Charitha's decision to center the production on Kuweni stems from her embodiment of Sri Lanka's culture and history, representing a misunderstood narrative about the island's first female ruler, whose influence endured for centuries despite her tragic fate of betrayal and murder. The production itself is a statement of challenging established norms, reshaping perceptions of Sri Lankan music, and reintroducing contemporary interpretations of traditional Sri Lankan culture.
The journey of "Kuweni the Musical" will conclude with the upcoming October show. We look forward to the possibility of encountering Kuweni 3.0 at some point in the future, somewhere, sometime, someday...

මම ජීවත් වෙන්නෙ වෙන රටක. කීයක් හරි වියදම් කරන්න පුළුවන්කමක් ලැබුණොත් මම මෙහෙ තියන හොඳ concert එකක් දෙකක් බලන්න යනවා. ඒ යන හැම පාරම මට හිතෙනවා අනේ ලංකාවේ ඉන්න රසිකයන්ටත් මේ වගේ level එකක live experience එකක් ලබන්න පුලුවන් නම් කොච්චර දෙයක්ද කියලා. මට මේක ලොකුවටම දැනුනා Hans Zimmer ගෙ concert එක බලන්න ගියාම. චරිත් අතලගේ ගෙ කුවේණි concert එක මෙහෙම දැක්කාම මට හරිම සතුටක් දැනුනා. මට හිතුනා "ඇඬෙනවා! ලංකාවෙත් පට්ට සෙට් එකක් ඉන්නවනේ". මේක කෙළින්ම world class! ඒකයි මේකට world class recognition හම්බෙන්නෙ. ලංකාවේ කොයි කාලෙත් ඉන්නවා උසස් රසිකත්වයක් තියන මිනිස්සු. ඒගොල්ලන්ට deliver කරන්න ඒ උසස් හැකියාව තියන අය මෙච්චර කල් extra mile එක යන්නෙ නෑ. මගින් ලාභ බලාගෙන නවත්තනවා. චරිත් අතලගේ, බොහොම ස්තූතියි. ලංකාවෙ music වලට වැදගත් personality එකක් හදනවට. මේ level එක ලෝකෙත් එක්ක කරට කර. නැතුව අවුරුදු පහක් හයක් පස්සෙන් නෙවේ. අන්න ඒකයි වටින්නෙ.
