quite the cool arm. Well thought out. I have watched this clip 3x times now and am still marveled at the thought that went into it.

Out of my league but I sure appreciate looking and understanding how tonearms have evolved, still enjoying my SME Series III. I can see the challenge trying to explain the Kuzba on paper. Thanks Michael 🤓

I see it in the design/work/craftsmanship how....Kuzma Arms are some of the top arms' engineered today.....(just acquired a Stogi S 12" VTA) and looking forward to spinning some records with this arm, once up and running.....

The fact that you said VTA is with "zero play" for the Safir, that must mean there is some play with the regular 4-point?
@jackprick9797 Жыл бұрын
For 22k, i would expect that the engineering design should include one single tool to be able to make all necessary adjustments. Or did i miss something? And Kuzma should also have more markings as reference for adjusting azimuth, not just a simple match mark. I guess we know there will be new version coming out in a couple of years that will include all these "technological" advances.

Sorry, but I still do not understand the structure of the horizontal bearing. I believe no one has ever explained it. The vertical bearing is self explanatory. Has anyone ever opened the central bearing assembly? I can't figure out how this works with two pivot points.

as much as I don't need a twenty two thousand dollar arm, I also have little use for something billed as a review that directs me elsewhere for the review, but shows a few images, with most of the content showing another product.
@edd27712 жыл бұрын
1) It clearly states it’s a review preview. 2) The mechanism on the older arm is the same as on the new, you’ve lost nothing in terms of your understanding.

It is billed as a preview not as a review. The other product utilizes the same technology. Otherwise your comment was “spot on”.

9” is too short as far as my personal preference goes. IMO tonearm design still has not caught up to where we should/could be with modern technical capabilities and material science…

For 22K all adjustments on the arm should be toolless.

@@edd2771 Sure. Let's see you adjust the timing, set up and tune that Ferrari when you get it in your garage. Let's see you fix that Ferrari when something goes wrong. Let's see you replace that engine when Ferraro updates theirs or you simply want a bigger, better one. The great enjoyment of this audiophile hobby is doing everything yourself. Setting this arm up is harder than setting up the average arm, nonetheless my VPI Fatboy. For 22K the end user should feel comfortable and confident in his self reliance.

@@edd2771 Yes, vintage car owner tinker with their cars. But any Ferrari owner, unless he is a well trained technician, that tinkers with his own Prancing Horse is either a fool or so rich he can afford to screw up. Some people do however maintain their own Ferrari, and successfully so. But I don't have to be a well trained technician to service my tonearm or 'table. I would venture that most most people in this hobby are tinkerers and prefer to set up their own systems. IMO, you are arguing the minority of audiophiles, not the majority. VTA on the fly? That's just one part of set up. Azimuth should also be made easier. Also at this price the manufacturer should provide a custom jig and down force gauge. This, IMO, is the very reason for being an audiophile. The very ability to tinker, adjust, modify, and alter to your taste or your hearts content. From my purview, let's address the absurdity of your comment and why it is specious. A tonearm is not a car. A Ferrari arrives ready to drive, engine included, whereas a tonearm is useless without the engine of a cartridge. Ferrari does not leave the end user to his own devices when it comes to initial fine tuning and set up. Ferrari's, unlike tonearms, need to be stored when not in use and need to be serviced at least every year. Service cost on a Ferrari is expensive, gas costs are high. Now whether my premise, that most in this hobby are tinkerers and enjoy setting up their own arms and table is true or not, IMO at 22K the manufacturer should cater to all end users, including we tinkerers.

@@edd2771 You're the one that attempted the, now abandoned, naive and vapid argument comparing tonearms to cars. A wise decision. Nevertheless, there are already cheaper arms as well as computer controlled tonearms out there where almost everything is toolless. I never said that at that price point tonearms must be, but rather should be toolless. IMO, if at this price point arms are not virtually toolless, when will they be? So I suppose it's your argument that is false and delusional. But yes, it's all a matter of opinion. However it seems that your condescending response is clearly ill informed, meretricious and near pornographically ludicrous. Perhaps in turn you'd like to mitigate your nonsense?
@helgar7912 жыл бұрын
@@edd2771 And yet almost all the tonearms you've mentioned have some type of toolless adjustment. Again, I didn't say tonearms above a certain price point "need not" have toolless adjustment. I proposed that at a certain price point they should, and that we tinkerers, who I believe are the majority in this hobby, would benefit from it. Nor did I suggest that all other tonearms offer the same features in the same way. I thought I was clear in stating that there are computer controlled arms that are full featured. If however you're offended by someone that has a tonearm that costs 5 times less than the one reviewed, well, I'm not the arbiter of your bruised feelings, nor will I apologized for working so hard to buy it. I can see that jealousy and ignorance are not the sole province of any particular age, creed, gender, or religion. Nevertheless, at some point I do believe you will understand something of what I've said. Monkey at a keyboard and all that.

@@edd2771 Yes quit while you're behind. You've consistently argued that above say above 20K arms needn't have toolless adjustments. Mine isn't that they need or needn't have, only they should have, adding that it would be beneficial to audiophiles. I've never at any time even intimated that it is a requirement. These are your masturbatory arguments stated over and over again which you've clearly won. Congratulations, you've once again, beaten yourself. Try to keep up please. At least attempt some sort of cogent argument in your favor. Even I can come up with a few, although ultimately I see them as straw dogs. Say, what would be the added cost of toolless adjustments and would they be prohibitive? How would it effect performance? Would they be more or less effective than a threaded option? These would all be adult contentions. But you have no clear or concise arguments, only a childish "I say so and so it is". Clearly from your bully pulpit you're used to not having your bullocks called. I call. So my most temporary of friends, I also bid you good day.
