ViewFinder: Healing Beyond Medicine - Service Dogs

Darin Peets is a kindergarten teacher at Del Dayo Elementary school in Sacramento. He’s also a quadriplegic following a diving accident as a teenager.To help Darin be more independent, he has a service dog assist him with daily physical tasks. Robis was his first service dog, who is currently enjoying retired life. Rex has recently taken over service duties. Both of Darin’s service dogs are from Canine Companions for Independence (CCI), a nonprofit organization raising and training assistance dogs for people living with disabilities. Discover how Robis and Rex help Darin both physically and emotionally.
