It’s cause you’ll pay 1,000+ in dealer fees and taxes, if u go buy a 5500 bike from a dealer you’ll pay a few hundred in dealer fees, if it’s a Japanese bike you’ll pay for shipping of the bike even if it’s already in the dealer and than you’ll pay taxes, I bought mine for $6,600, with a $5,499 sticker price but after dealer fees shipping and taxes it was 1,100 more than “MSRP” if you’ve ever bought a new car or new bike you’d realize nobody ever spends MSRP they always spend more. It’s just the listing price, just like a coke is ¢ .99, but after sales tax it’s $1.07, so technically it’s only 99 cents but you had to pay 1.07 for it. If u go to a person selling a bike for 5500 they’ll be willing to go down to 5,000. An then you’ll get a slightly used bike for a thousand or so less than buying new, also insurance is worse buying new bikes. Cheaper the purchase price of the bike the cheaper your insurance is.

Having just bought a 2020 Ninja 400 with a full custom white body kit, Two Brother's Exhaust, Quad Lock mount, 3200kms ridden and the old body kit/exhaust included for $6900, second hand was 100% the choice for me. Big agree on the point that damaging a second hand bike might not sting as much vs scratching your brand new baby.

I got mine used during Covid, 4k miles for $3,500, pristine condition. Bike already paid for itself for helping me dodge the $15 per day parking fees downtown to go to work. That plus the 30mpg better fuel economy than my car has saved a considerable amount. If I ever sell it to trade up, it'll be pure profit. I would 100% buy used again

Street bikes tend to hold value really well, so buying new would be my course of action if I planned to hold onto it long term. Race and touring bikes lose value very quickly. I can pick up a 4 year old K1600 with under 30,000km on the clock for half of the new dealer price.
@MrEiniweini
@MrEiniweini Жыл бұрын
@@dylanm7136 Street bike hold value really well. If you are looking at the H2 or the Road Glide, they will lose value. If you are looking at the Ninja 400 or the SV 650, they will hold more value compared to the purchase price new. If you are looking at a purpose specific bike like a sport, ADV, motocross, or touring, they have a limited buyer base (let's just say each has 10% of the overall market.) Street bikes run the gambit. 60% of the market is looking for a primary street bike with some potential on dirt, that is why the SV 650 or Versys 650 work.

Thx for share, really good info presented. got mine 2 weeks ago, almost brand new 23model only 600km including rego until end of November this year. listed 7.3k aud including RWC but not included tax charge. yes, i have contacted dealer, they have confirmed the warranty can be transferred. new one may goona wait for 6 weeks or more. I have experience rode e-scooter for 2 years, yes i can say this is the Perfect bike for new riders. easy to handle, light weight and suits for small height person like me. But a comprehensive insurance including theft protection is necessary for new riders in my opinion. You won't feel frustrated when any issue comes. As In Australia the second hand market for motorbike is mature already. I got suggestion from my friend to buy a used bike. good value and good condition. not really need to purchase a brand new bike only if u kind mind bike is not brand new.

Good way to see if the bike has issues is the state of the chain, check for rust. If the chain is in poor condition most likely the owner didn't take care of the bike. Also check for dents on any exposed parts as well as knicks and scratches.

I've been always told by so many people that for the first bike I should buy a used bike, but in Switzerland from what I've been seeing, any used bikes that aren't 8+ years old and don't have over 10000km ran through them, you pay like 1k less than a brand new bike, so I'd much rather buy a new bike because what I'd save on the bike itself, I'd have to pay for the service, etc. which is pointless

I lucked out I think. Buying a 2023 Ninja 400 KRT with 971 miles on it. The dealership was sold out on this particular model. The previous owner bought it new and decided he wanted to upgrade to the 650 and promptly traded it in. So the dealership called and offered it to me for 6500. I jumped on it. Brand new I was looking at 7700-9000. And the previous owner put a Leo Vince exhaust on it. I am completely satisfied with the transaction. Can't wait to get my license and start riding it

Your chances of missing something on a used purchase are higher. Used or new depends on the market where you are located and your own knowledge of what you’re looking at…..now most folks need to learn to be more aggressive in their negotiations with the dealership….if you don’t like the deal move on and internet shop other dealers until you get a more reasonable purchase experience. All things considered New is New…..especially on these smaller and so called beginner bikes….tires, clutch, drops, incessant neutral revs for you tube views, etc…..you’ll know the right deal when you see it….be patient and keep the bigger picture in mind……good luck to all.

I bought my Ninja 400 2020 model, 3 years ago as a "Demo", just before COVID-19 hit Australia. I say demo, but really it was new, because It was unpacked and assembled that very week to be used for test rides and I was the first and only rider to actually test ride it. Did get a few hundred dollars off, which made it an absolute steal with respect to what happened next in the world. And yep, dropped it on the 3rd day of ownership. Thankfully it was onto a thick layer of honky nuts (because I was slack and didn't clean the layer off my driveway ... teach me that did), so very little damage. The ninja 400 has been an awesome bike for me, and I'll keep it even though I have my unrestricted license now ... as it is just amazing at cutting through traffic, and costs snaff all to run, register and insure.

I don’t think it’s a tricky question at all to buy a used beginner bike I see is a real gamble. You have people who probably have never driven a clutch before probably don’t understand maintenance real well probably did not break it in properly although that’s always up for debate how you break something in but I know how I get tens of thousands of miles out of my vehicle’s. I believe Ben Franklin said it best Pennywise pound short. If you’re just buying a beater bike Then roll the dice but it doesn’t take much to absolutely destroy the value of your investment if it had not been cared for. True there are some telltale signs but the truth of the matter is unless you tear that engine down you don’t know what’s been done to it.

When you talk about aftermarket parts everyone reading aftermarket parts do not increase the value of a motorcycle. The other thing you have to ask who put the aftermarket parts on are they Chinese knock off are they counterfeit were they torqued correctly or they installed correctly. Do your due diligence because it does not take much to have $1000 repair bill
@jakegarrett8109

They CAN add value, but nowhere near the cost of the part (unless its free labor cost, like if they custom turbocharged it but only charged for the parts and not the hundred hours of labor it took). Carbon fiber wheels for example will increase the value, but not $5k more (unless they were like $20k wheels). Some parts like exhaust may not increase value much, and that will be up to the owner if they want that exhaust (so keep all OEM parts for sale later if they want stock). Things like crash cages might not increase value since they know you were doing so many wheelies with it, but tasteful mods can make it a bit nicer and worth more (a little more, not a lot more).

My Vulcan 900 has been in storage for 4 years. It starts but doesn't run. Been thinking about trading it in for a used 400. Hoping they'll at least give me the cost of TT&L, and pay cash if I can find one sub $5K

I’m confused about LAMS and NON LAMS I’ve never ridden before, But I am kinda not happy that I’d have to sell out the LAMS after 3 months? So is it ok to unrestrict it after wards?

Main cons of a used motorcycle is , they scam on speedometer, they disconnnect the wheel Speedo sensor which also abs cable, they ride and thrash and have lot of fun on track and when selling , they bike is well cleaned and detailed and sold 😂. The buyer will be chicken 🐓 at the end of the day . Even sometimes oil drain plug is overtighten and damaged already , they would just manage to fix a temporarily, when u service first time , then get the shock . But not everyone does that, luck matters.

Amazing video, very informative. I am more than a beginner and i am currently enrolled in the courses. I want to buy a Ninja 400 because its a good one and also due to my height also, which is 153CM. I am planning to modify it by lowering it down. I didn't want to buy a new one right away because i have 0 experience, and like you said, scratching it, it will hurt a lot. I am currently with an option of 2020 model, 7,500KM, price is approx 5300 $, which i will ask for a better price for sure. The owner has used it for 2 years. Is it a good deal? Please if i can get a help in the comments, would appreciate. Thanks a lot for this video.

I bought my 2017 Ninja 300 new. Don’t do it. I had never owned a motorcycle before and had only ridden a motorcycle once. I have owned 3 wheelers before. I also regret getting a 300. If you have any experience at all I would look at getting something in the 600 range. And not a 400 or 500. Not sure why that market even exists.

Pretty much all motorcycles are manual so I'd definitely be looking to do a learner course or get some lessons. You'll love using the gears once you learn, one of the best parts of riding!

That’s MRSP the actual price would be closer to $7000-8000 after all the dealer fees so $3000 or $7000 also with that $7000 price tag you’ll be upside down on that compared to the $3000 used cash price that’ll be paid off also you can find bikes under 10k miles I got a 650 with only 8k miles for $3900 from a used bike shop 😊
